Completely unprepared, unprofessional, and a complete waste of time. Tony from Five Star Roofing showed up over an hour late with zero tools—no notepad, no tape measure, nothing. In fact, he actually asked me to borrow a tape measure and have me walk across the roof with him just to help him measure. He threw out vague ballpark numbers ($6,000 that magically jumps to $10k–$15k once you factor in tearing off the old layers), missed his own deadline, and then couldn't even remember who I was when I called him two days later, hiding behind a string of personal excuses. Look, shit happens and people have lives, but I’m not paying someone to show up unprepared and treat a professional estimate like a casual favor. When you expect the client to do the measuring and follow-up for you, you're just wasting people's time. Passed on doing business here, and I'd suggest looking elsewhere if you want someone who actually knows how to work.

I called Five Star to fix a leaky skylight. Slick Nick convinced me I needed a new roof. I paid for a new roof and the skylight was "patched up." It still leaked. Then, the "new roof" started leaking. They came back to patch the roof up as …

Thieves ! Do not hire ! I hired Nick in good faith thinking he was going to do the job. He subcontracted another company to do the work. The workers from that company ripped out my 120year old copper gutters probably to sell. It wasn’t until after that we realized and I’ve tried to call Nick and he doesn’t answer my calls. Please take this as a warning if there was a way to give zero stars I would. Terrible experience and now I have to hire a lawyer to sue this company.

Five Star Roofing ruined our property when doing work for the building and has ignored us for 17 straight months. Nick is as untrustworthy as they come and businesses like this shouldn’t be allowed to operate

Be aware! Thoroughness and attention to detail is not prioritized. Nick and crew came out to our building to inspect and attempt to fix leaks. Not only did they fail to do so, but they ripped up pavers/wooden decking in private cabanas to inspect and when they went to reinstall they did such a haphazard job. They ruined the floorboards by drilling holes in boards that don’t need them. Phone calls were exchanged with Nick and now he is ghosting us. Not returning calls and he knows they messed up! The only option we have as a building is to file a lien and keep calling and hoping this is resolved. In any case, you all should be aware about this company’s lack of detail!

Terrible company. Wasted my entire weekend waiting for them to arrive to get an estimate for a roof job. No one ever came. Never received any phonecall about cancellation. Waited all day for them. I would not recommend doing business with such unprofessional people.

Nick and team replaced my 90 year old Mom’s roof in Queens In 2 days with utmost professionalism and easy communication. Nick clearly communicates with Mom and alleviated her worries. The team left the property immaculate! I would highly recommend Nick and Five Star Roofing!

I had water coming down in almost every room of my house. A team responded in about 40 minutes, tarped the roof and the road to recovery began. Nick is honest, calming, displaying excellent communication skills rarely found today. I would recommend Five Star Roofing to anyone.

UPDATE: As of August 18th, 2025 I wanted to provide an update. The day after this review was posted, Nick contacted me to inquire about the negative review. He stated he was unaware of what transpired with the lack of communication from his team despite speaking to him directly about the ordeal. After reiterating everything and coming onsite once more to look at the gutters, we discovered issues with the pitching and construction debris was stuck in the spouts. He offered to replace the entire system free of charge. The job took a few hours and after a recent rain storm, the gutters did what they were designed to do. His gutter team explained the whole process and provided a clean, glossy, larger setup which compliments the siding of the house. Customer service and communication are key components for any business. As such, I am changing the review from a 1 star to a 3 star. We started off well with Five Star Roofing. A conversation was had. Michael, the Foreman came to give us quotes for doing our siding. Only one side was needed but we didnt want the roof to look weird so we asked for a quote for one side and the entire roof. We were quoted one side and advised that doing all other sides wouldn't be that much more since the workers were already here and the materials were available. He provided the quote and we agreed to all sides. The men started the work and finished in a few days. There was no updated paperwork for the quote. low and behold, when we did receive the final invoice, it did not reflect the price that was quoted. Supposedly, the price that was given to us for all sides, was IN ADDITION to the original quote for the one side. That is not how it was communicated to us. If it was, we would rethink it because it was now out of our price range. We were upset but didn't become irate. Nick, the owner, advised that there was a miscommunication with the final amount agreed upon as per invoice. We renegotiated but they did NOT budge much on the price with
