  Called to discuss replacing a large commercial roof. Person answering the phone was completely rude and unprofessional. There are plenty of roofing companies in the area, everyone deserves a roofer who treats customers with a basic level of respect.

  Worst roofing company in Portland. I would never use this company, Roofing leaked everywhere destroyed my 600k home. So much water leaked in everywhere causing mold and dry rot everywhere. I had a inch of water inside my home destroying all my belongings. Black mold everywhere. Sheet rock and walls all destroyed Had to have my lawyer sue the company for damages. It didn't pay for anything. Think twice before hiring these jokers, The Portland roofers. Guaranteed to destroy your home and leave you with nothing. But a huge mess to fix all over again.

  Jim Pfeifer was never a customer. This is a lie being told to damage my business. He is telling this lie about my business because I expressed that I am a person resisting forced experimental vaccines and mask wearing mandates. I don't get in anyone's personal space. The type of work I provide does not get me close to others. Jim saw me going about with out a mask and has decided to lie about my business.

  Wish I could give them ZERO stars!!! Local small business in need of 1 (one) gutter repair or replacement so we called and left a message to ask someone to come out and give us an estimate on either replacing or repairing 1 (one) gutter on a very old well known and respected property in Portland. Return call response was $275 for the first hour and $150 for every hour following, refused to come and even take a look without making a $275 deposit. When I repeated my request for a free estimate I was told "when we are done with all the other head scratchers and want the job done right to give them a call and pay the money and they will come do what they think needs to be done". When asking why he was being so rude he began yelling into the phone, this is when i thanked him for his time and hung up while he continued to yell. This guy sounds like an arrogant, angry and ignorant man, even if their work is great we will never know due to extremely poor customer service and communication.

  I apologize for upsetting you. I must stick to a script. In this case I should of said I only provide free estimates for new gutters when that service is combined with a new roof estimate. I can recommend a company that will come give an in person estimate. I can also tell you how much each of the 3 most common style of replacement gutters cost per foot. Gutter installation contractors are typically priced similarly.

  This guy is an asshat. Very threatening demenor when we asked him to slow down in a neighborhood. He then proceeds to ask if i live at the address im at.. Then scopes my licence plate.. Id never want this guy near my house with his disregard to peoples kids and pets.. Creepy for sure.

  I was not speeding. I stopped because you were screaming at me. I was curious what you were really so mad about. I had done nothing to you. Still have done nothing to you. Someone in your neighborhood got a great roof. I wish I would of had the words to help you have a better day. I asked if you lived there to start a conversation and ask you to consider that I had done good work near you. I was going to ask if you noticed. You would not stop screaming. I did have angry thoughts being screamed at for no reason. Those thoughts showed on my face. I drove on and left you with your anger and unfortunately took some of your anger with me.

  If their work is reflect in their driving it is incompetent aggressive and a dangerous failure. At best.

  The work is of the highest quality and in the rare situations that an installation error is made I honor warranties and fix the problem with apologies and not excuses. I know I am not a perfect driver and I certainly have been honked at more than once trying to change lanes with a vehicle in my blind spot. With logos on my vehicles I certainly hear about it when a wrong move is made. It is usually me and rarely an employee. If you catch me driving bad call me immediately and I will come treat your roof for moss for free.

  You charged my 78 year old mother $18000 for a new roof when the contract was for just under $10000! Then you came back and spent a half an hour taking items from my mom's yard AND my yard! You were caught on video STEALING! My mom's NEW roof is LEAKING! You are not getting another single penny! That's elder financial abuse at its worst! You will be prosecuted! YES YOU ARE A THIEF! IT'S ON VIDEO! YOU TRESPASSED ON MY PROPERTY AND STOLE FROM ME! YOU TOOK ITEMS THAT WERE NOT GARBAGE AND WERE NOT LEFT OVER FROM THE CRAPPY JOB YOU DID! MY MOTHER TRUSTED YOU TO COME AND GET THE 2 AND 1/4 SHEETS OF PLYWOOD THAT WAS LEFT OVER AND YOUR CHECK! YOU HAD NO RIGHT COMING ONTO MY PROPERTY! It's posted NO TRESPASSING! There is a fence seperating my property from my mom's property! My niece doesn't live there anymore and what difference would it make to you who lives in my mother's house? I turned your letter of admitted theft over to the cops. LIES? IT'S ALL TRUE! We have also contacted the news! I want to make sure you NEVER do this to anyone else! We will have pictures of the leaking roof today as proof! Have a great day Chad! I like all your FAKE reviews given on the day of the theft! Trying to cover your tracks? Sorry but $10000 that can be seen? We have cancelled checks! And as to your previous reply that you have changed about not having leaks in the new roof, you sent a guy out and THERE WERE LEAKS THAT HE FOUND! Call me a liar again? There IS a fence up! Do I need to post a picture of the fence to prove it or were you to high to notice you had to walk behind the fence? I have screen shots of every time you have changed your response!

  I cleaned up old concrete and nasty old plywood. I took a cover to a chainsaw as the chainsaw was in a pile of rubble. I took a had saw that was sitting out in the rain. I sent a picture and gave $145 credit. I sent a picture of these things and also know there are cameras. I expected this to be seen as generous. I was given a check for $50 towards the more than $3000 owed. I did not lein the property because the customer I believe really is struggling financially. I thought I could just walk away without a profit and just break even. Now Google says I am a thief so no telling how much this has cost me. This was the craziest family. They look for reasons to complain about generosity. The granddaughter who lived their for free with her little son called the police on her grandmother (my customer) for not giving notice there would be construction happening. One of her sons had moved back home to live with mom in his late 50's. He went crazy screaming at the roofers for replacing wet damaged plywood. The contract was 10,000 for what could be seen. The the rest of the invoice is additional layers that were discovered dry rot that was discovered siding that needed to be replaced. The total was just under $17,000 of which I'm still owed over 3,000. I took a picture and sent it to the customer's email of what I took along with giving credit for the items. My credit was generous. I gave you credit for damaged plywood old concrete. You are calling me a thief for cleaning up you or your mothers yard. I should not of been so kind. I wasn't informed of any leaking until after this review posting. I Sent a roofer by 2pm, the same day to investigate and repair the problem.

  Just called and the owner of Portland roofers and he was arrogant and rude. I would not advise using this company every. I am a licensed general contract and have never had to deal with such unprofessional behavior from another trades person. Mike G

  Michael Wayne Green called for roof repair he said because another roofer he was expecting did not show up. I told him that we do not offer free estimates for roof repair and offered to take a deposit and send help immediately. More than half the people that call for roof repair make a deposit and get great service. My win rate of sales is definitely much better than in the days of giving free estimates. My prices are actually better for the customer too. Years ago and I give free estimates I had to find a way to get customers who said yes to roof repair to pay for customers who said no. I can do a better job of picking the right tone and words. There's a fine line between being very straightforward and being rude. Michael felt that I was rude and based his review only on our phone conversation not on service that he received from any of my roofers.

  I get that everyone needs to make their money. I get that different people do different things and that Chad prefers to work with a deposit. What I don't appreciate is threatening tones and lack of patience. Maybe when you talk to your customers you can stop talking about making money and show more concern about your customer's needs? Your call, though. Your business.

  I'm often misunderstood with potential roof repair customers. Anyone who reads this please understand that she never made a deposit or received any services. I did not threaten I just communicated with her to find out if she was going to move forward because I had promised to make a roofer available to her right away then we we got deposits from others for repair. I contacted her not to be threatening but just to try to get her to make a deposit so that we could not have the schedule fill up and delay repair to her roof. I never intended to offend in fact I intended to help her. I'm getting a lot of feedback in the form of one star reviews and trying to not get more of them. I wish that only people who we're paying customers were allowed to give reviews.

  Chad did a fantastic job at cleaning our roof. He always responded to my text messages quickly. His bid was the lowest and he came out on the day he said he'd come out and worked long hours to clean our tile roof. Next time I need to get our roof cleaned, I'd call Chad first.

  Excellent service and job performance on my cedar shake roof, cleaned it thoroughly of every spruce needle that was embedded into and between the shakes and applied a high quality preservation oil. Roof looks great and will stand up to the elements and protect our investment.

  Update: (changed from 1 to 4 stars) While the initial interaction was not as expected, Chad did reach out about a week later to follow up and offer a quote on performing a roof replacement. Although I had already chosen another contractor to do the work, Chad's quote was competitive and he was honest and straightforward and committed to being more up front and open when it comes to providing quotes in the future. Previous Review: I have no clue if this company does good or bad work. I have no clue if this company has good rates or not. This company expects you to just choose them without any quote or estimate. The purpose of getting quotes and talking to the contractor beforehand is part of the selection process and anyone who blindly chooses a company without doing so is rolling the dice. My experience matches others who called The Portland Roofers looking for a quote - I was effectively told to call back when I'm ready to hand over the money and have them do the work - and put blind trust into them doing a professional job at a competitive rate. It is my opinion this company preys on those who don't know better. Again, they may do great work and have great prices, but attitude and professionalism go a long ways in choosing a contractor, and this company is disrespectful and not professional at all from my experience.

  Alex thank you for changing your review. From your 1st call I was simply offering you a great roof for a very competitive price. I wanted to use satellite to measure your roof and tell you the cost of the roof. Assure you the roof would be built correctly. Then offer to come meet you and put it all in writing, but only if and when you were done getting other estimates and were very close to being ready to buy a roof. I am well aware this is the worst way to be a profitable business. I did well financially for a while, but the business took all my time. I used to have 26 roofers and met nearly everyone in person that called me. I do not trust salespeople so I did all the sales myself. I was rarely home for dinner in those days (2011 to 2016) except on Saturday. I worked Sunday-Friday. Currently I am not trying very hard at all to make money, but anyone who buys a roof from me will get a great roof and not overpay.

  We have used Chad and his crew for numerous jobs including a complete new roof and gutters. His company is friendly, professional and reliable. We would recommend them to friends and family alike as the best place to go! Very happy with their results!

  Two years ago I had a bad experience with this company which was never resolved. They are now under new management and took the time to contact me (2 yrs later) to apologize for the previous bad experience and offer to make things right. We reached a mutual agreement and I was impressed by their effort. It makes me think the new management is eager to live up to their promises and is much more customer oriented. If I need roof work in the future, I would give them another try.

  Chad has taken care of our shake roof for decades. Each time the roof is thoroughly pressure washed, damaged shakes replaced and then a preservative treatment is applied in the color tone you select. Whatever Chad applies last for three to four years and looks great. It seems other firms offer two color - red or washed out beach look. We like the honey tone color of new shakes. We highly recommend Chad. He does a great work, fair on costs and is honest. H Cobb West Linn

  I never thanked Lawrence and you for fixing my roof leaks. I climbed up on the roof yesterday and looked at the chimney pan flashing repair that Lawrence did. I saw it and thought "This is a thing of beauty. There is no way it leaks anymore." I just went up in the attic and checked. The leak is fixed. Also the other leaks at the eaves appear to be fixed, too. Thank you and let Lawrence know he does great work.

  Chad asked me to write a review today based on my experience with him earlier this year. A tree fell on our house during a storm. I called The Portland Roofers. Chad answered the phone. Chad was very straight and to the point. He took a $475 deposit by sending a service agreement through QuickBooks. I read the terms of service and made the deposit online . Two hours later Mark of Elite Tree Service came to remove the tree from my roof. Same day service just like Chad said. Chad came later that same night in rain gear wearing a head lamp and attached some type of waterproof material to our roof in such a way that it withstood the wind until he could provide us with a new roof. Chad explained how they would replace the roof in very simple way without without His crew began replacing our roof the next time weather permitted. The Portland Roofers fixed the framing damage that the tree caused to our roof. Chad added blown in insulation and improved or ventilation system in the Attic. They also repaired our fence and deck and replaced a section of gutter. All of these things were also damaged by the tree that fell during the storm. Chad and Mark billed my insurance company separately. State Farm insurance was great during the whole process.

  BEST ROOF EVER - Portland Roofers are the best roofing contractor and quality driven company I ever met. Their work ethic is superior and my new roof is beautiful. My job wasn't even close to being easy from what 10 other roofers told me and it showed in their bid. My roof had 25 years of dry rot and extreme structural damage that required a contractor not just a roofer. The 10 other companies acted like they couldn't handle it but The Portland Roofers said "No Big Deal". The best part about this company is they are reliable, honest, down to earth and just good people, and they keep their word. Once I saw them in action replacing beams and dedicated to doing the job right not just slapping it together, I was stunned. They gave me the lowest bid out of 10 companies and they didn't pressure me or request all the money upfront before starting the job like the other guys did. I will only work with this company in the future for roof cleaning, roof repair, and any other jobs relating to my home. If you need a roof job call The Portland Roofers for peace of mind and a beautiful roof, which I never ever thought I could love my roof, but I do.Thank You Portland Roofers for the best workmanship I've seen in forever.

  I had Chad and his crew do our roof last March. He was very helpful and professional every step up the job. They went above and beyond to make sure we got the best roof we could. Our old one was in bad shape and leaking in our garage and arrive space. Chad explained exactly what would be involved in the job and how much everything would cost. There wasn’t any surprise up charges at the end of the job. They showed up on the date the said they would and finished on the date that was promised. After reading some of these one star reviews I feel some people like to leave bad reviews for everything. Give these guys a chance and you shouldn’t be disappointed. I love my new roof.

  This company is completely rude & unprofessional! Simply called to see if I can get an estimate for roof repair (not a full roof replacement). After being told that's not worth his time because he wouldn't make any money he then proceeded to lecture me about me about how I'm the type of person who is going to get multiple estimates. All after he said he wouldn't even consider my job. Felt belittled and lectured by this man and will never EVER consider doing business with this company in the future.

  This is Chad Westover the business owner. My perception of what happened is I offered to help immediately with roof repair. I was not speaking as if reading a script. I need to stick to script. I need to be careful not to try to sell the idea of paying for time and materials with roof repair. When someone has their mind set on a free estimate for roof repair I will recommend a roofing company I know of that does free estimates and excellent work. Another thing I need to decide is when I realize someone is getting upset I must be willing to apologize and ask why they are upset by me. Then apologize again, learn and adapt.
