Dennis, this review is disappointing, especially considering the timing and the full history of your project. This review was posted because Extin, (a full-time employee ) had not arrived yet today. The job immediately before yours took longer than anticipated. They were literally wrapping up that project and preparing to head to your property when we received this review. A delay is frustrating, and we understand that, but it does not justify portraying the entire project or our company this way. The Helping Company is not a “broker.” We are a licensed contractor and, like most construction companies, utilize qualified subcontractors for certain trades while remaining responsible for the work. Throughout your project, we returned multiple times to address concerns and even completed several items outside of our contracted scope at no additional charge as a courtesy. You also chose our company because we provided a substantially better price than the general contractor you were considering, and we pushed to complete your project during sub-zero winter temperatures rather than make you wait for warmer weather. We have also never refused to honor our warranty. We have continued responding to concerns and returning to your property months after completion. In fact, the crew was still scheduled to come to your property today when this review was posted. We can acknowledge that our scheduling and communication have not always been perfect. What we cannot agree with are statements suggesting that we abandoned your project, refused our warranty obligations, or simply took your money and hired the “lowest bidder.” Those statements do not accurately represent what occurred. We will continue to honor our contractual and warranty obligations and address legitimate issues with our workmanship, regardless of this review.

I had a leak from around a skylight in early January 2025. I received a thorough on-roof inspection and a quote to fix the problem. The total was $680 and an immediate deposit of $449. I paid the deposit. A few weeks of waiting turned into …

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry there was confusion regarding the scope of work and the final invoice. After our inspection, we provided pricing to address the skylight flashing area and also noted a small upper gutter section that was believed to possibly contribute to the issue. When our technicians arrived and completed the repair, they determined that the leak source was the skylight flashing area, and that removing the gutter section was not necessary to resolve the active leak. Because that portion of the work was not completed, the remaining balance should not have been billed. That invoice was sent in error, and we do not expect payment on the remaining balance. Our understanding was that the active leak issue was repaired, and our goal was to solve the problem without charging for unnecessary work. That said, we apologize for the delay, the confusion, and the frustration this caused. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation and would be happy to discuss it directly if there are any remaining concerns.

Started off great. They were very helpful and quick to come out. They helped me get more money from the insurance company. However once they received their $5,000.00 deposit that all changed. I was put on the "Schedule" then that got delayed because" they didn't get the materials. I was then given another date and time.....they never showed up. I complained and was again "put on the schedule" only to have that fall through. I asked for my deposit money back. I was put on the schedule once again. And once again the work was never completed. They have had my deposit money for a year now and have not done the work or returned my deposit. I would be very leary of these folks.

Hi Chris, We have reviewed your project file in detail. Our CRM shows 7 separate documented attempts by our production team and sales manager to reach you regarding scheduling. Each outgoing call is recorded in our system, and the notes reflect that voicemails were left without any return communication. If you have not received these calls, please contact us to confirm phone number is correct in our system. We understand delays can be frustrating. However, our records indicate we made repeated efforts to move your project forward and were unable to connect with you to finalize scheduling. If you would like your deposit returned, please submit that request in writing to admin@thcexteriors.com, and we will promptly return the insurance funds for deposit that was received for your down payment. Our records also show that materials were custom ordered and placed in stock specifically for your project. As a courtesy, despite the material being ordered per job, we will absorb the cost due to the scheduling delay. We remain willing to resolve this matter professionally and encourage you to contact our office directly so we can bring this to a proper close.

Hazem — thank you for sharing this, and I’m sorry for the frustration you experienced with follow-up communication after we made repairs. To clarify the timeline: you contacted us on 12/19 and were scheduled for 12/20. Due to an unexpected employee family emergency, we rescheduled and our technician Extin was onsite Monday 12/22, completed a leak investigation, and performed a repair at the roof-to-wall step flashing area where the siding meets the roofline. Although that specific flashing work was not part of the original insurance scope, we completed the adjustment/seal repair at no charge to help resolve the issue promptly. At the time of service, after speaking with Extin, you indicated you were grateful we were able to get out quickly and that you would handle the garage door opener. Where we fell short was communication during the holiday week between Christmas and New Year’s, and I apologize for that. I returned to the office on Tuesday 1/6 and would still like the chance to connect directly and make sure everything is fully resolved. Please email me at travis@thcexteriors.com for best line direct communication with me. — Travis Frees

Update 2: owner responded to the BBB complaint I filed in August (now late October) before they even worked on my roof. He fabricated a false timeline and false claims. This company had been the cause of all of my stress for nearly a year. UPDATE: the owner sent me a poorly written cease and desist letter from an online attorney to try and get me to remove my bad review. The scare tactics are unreal. This speaks for itself. I still have not received a single invoice and my roof is still leaking. They refuse to provide what we’ve paid and asked for. I don’t know if it’s possible to accurately capture how horrible my experience with this company was in such a small character limit. I signed a contract in March for a roof replacement on my lower roof & repair on my upper roof. I paid in full, then had to beg for seven months to get them to come work. They only came after I filed a BBB complaint. They did half the work (my upper roof is still leaking) They were supposed to return last Friday but no showed the appointment. Throughout this whole ordeal the owner has lied to me, called me names, cursed me out, and made fun of me. Two weeks ago he tried to gaslight me by saying “your roof isn’t leaking” as if I don’t live here and see the water dripping into a bucket. He has tried every way he can to some how make this my fault and blame me which makes no sense, I paid upfront- I held up my part of the deal. Every other employee was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, but the owner is running this disaster of a company straight into the ground. Don’t waste a single moment of your consciousness on considering this company for anything, you will never get it. I currently have a BBB complaint submitted to try and recoup some of the money I paid. (I had a relative who worked here which is why I chose them, he no longer works there. I only add this because I imagine the owner would try and claim I gave a bad review due to that but I think the timeline and actions of th

Since this is a BBB case, I have provided the response we submitted to the BBB below. The signed contract for the project at the client’s home totaled $4,914.87. This was the amount that was approved the client’s insurance company, which included the client’s deductible ($1,000.00). The work the insurance company paid for included replacement of the rear portion of her roof only. This portion had already been replaced a few years prior by a different contractor (who is no longer in business) and had active leaks. Instead of replacing an already new roof, we agreed in our contract to do a repair of her attic vent and use the money to replace her entire front lower roof which had been approximately 30 years old and leaking badly. The contract between the client and The Helping Co was signed on March 18, 2020. Governor Tom Wolf announced a state-wide shutdown for Pennsylvania on March 19, 2020, requiring our business to shut down and stop working. With that being said, all projects were put on pause. During the state shut down, we had made multiple attempts to temporarily stop leaks while we were unable to complete the roof. Our business was financially able to re-open and hire back our laid off employees in late June 2020. Projects were completed in the order in which contracts were signed. This was the first time our company experienced a government shutdown due to a pandemic and we will admit, we were not fully prepared. On top of this, our Production Manager at the time quit our company with no notice. This left our team scrambling to pick up where he left off with production. Our communication to our customers throughout this time could have been better, and for that we apologize. The client asked us for an update on August 4, 2020. At this time her Project Folder was turned into our temporary Production Manager the same day, who reviewed the project and communicated with our contractors and suppliers to try and get a solid date on when we could complete the p

Thank you for your feedback. However, we could not locate anyone named “John Doe” in our records, which made us check a bit further. We noticed your previous reviews under a different name, “Jeff,” which matches a former employee who also reached out to one of our team members within the same hour as this review. Great experience from start to finish. I had a leak coming in around my chimney and needed a small roof repair. Extin came out the same day, quickly identified the issue, and completed the repair. He was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and friendly, and took the time to explain what was causing the problem and what needed to be done. It’s hard to find a roofing company that will respond this quickly, especially for a smaller repair. I really appreciated the professionalism and same-day service. Highly recommend!

Thanks Dan. Appreciate the kind words. This is one claim I talk about frequently. It’s frustrating that your agent advised not to open a claim but the damage was so clear, I couldn’t let you miss out on the opportunity. You only have a year and I think we cut it close with your claim but so glad it all worked out and we got it approved and completed for you. Thanks again for your business!

When you have a roof leak , you are already on edge and worried. But those worries were quickly quelled when I reached out to The Helping Company. I had a great experience with The Helping Company! It was my first time using them, but I had heard great things from others, and all those things were true! Scheduling was quick and easy. The President, Travis, came out and and quickly identified the problem by going in my attic space, using a thermal imaging camera to identify wet spots, and even flying a drone over the house to spot the problem from the outside! Within 24hours, he had a crew out to patch the hole. While they were up there, they not only patched the hole with matching shingles, but gave an overall inspection of the roof and hammered and sealed some additional nail pops to prevent problems in the future. They took additional pictures and provided information about the estimated remaining life of the roof and any additional concerns. From beginning to end, was a great experience. I will no doubt use them in the future for my roofing needs.

Summer storm season is in full swing across Wyomissing, and your siding quietly takes the brunt of it. After high winds or hail, most homeowners look up at the roof and never check the walls — but cracked, loose, or pitted siding is exactly where water sneaks in behind the scenes. A quick walk-around after the next storm goes a long way: look for hairline cracks, chalky streaks, panels that have popped loose near corners and windows, and spots where the caulk has pulled away. Catching it early keeps a small fix from turning into hidden moisture damage and rot. Not sure if it's cosmetic or the start of something bigger? A professional set of eyes will tell you fast. The Helping Company has kept Wyomissing exteriors solid for years.Jul 13, 2026Learn more
