Great communication at first. Came down to Clinton, SC, looked at the project, promised to come back to get started and never came back.

Really poor workmanship. EDIT: To clarify, I am absolutely a customer and we did call your company directly to complain, and no meaningful follow-up or corrective action was taken. Your dumpster blocked my driveway for an entire day (even though the job was down by 3 PM), remained there overnight, and was still there well into the following morning. I could not leave my home and missed an appointment because of it. The shingles are wavy and we were told this will flatten overtime (still waiting...) and your crew left debri (and a tool!) on the roof and even threw some down our chimney. We gave you the opportunity to address these issues, and nothing was done. Thank you for giving me the chance to clarify my review.

A truly terrible experience! When neighbors and family comment about the quality of work, you know it is bad—from poor communication, nails and screws left all over the property, to busting our corner siding pieces AND then coming back and asking if they can just patch it versus replace what they busted. Installing the wrong siding on a section of the house, being paid to install posts, and then throwing up corner pieces (see pictures), versus building out the beam like they had said. They had to come back various times to re-do things (see overhang of shingles, etc, in the one picture) and re-wrap the window and door due to poor quality. When I say it was rough, it was a month of constantly calling and having them redo stuff. The biggest complaint is that several times they would ask to "fix" things the cheap way. "Can we patch that? Can we just build out the front?" Wouldn't a company want to do it correctly and stand behind their work? I would not use this company again, and I would not recommend them!

Kristine, thank you for your honest feedback — it truly helped us do better. We're so glad Lauren and the team were able to walk through everything with you and get it all taken care of to your satisfaction. Thank you for the opportunity to make it right. We appreciate your patience throughout the process.

Gutters look fine. The work was done in 2020. I had gutter guards place by another company this year. The owner of the gutter guard company found a few problems that he took the time to report to TC Backer. TC backer representative was to contact me to fix the problems; it took them a month to respond. I had the same communication problems during my project. I do not recommend TC Backer.

***PLEASE GET MULTIPLE QUOTES!!*** They quoted me a little under $22,000 for a labor only 2200 sq ft (22 squares) siding job. I want to emphasize that this was LABOR ONLY, meaning they would supply NO MATERIALS. This pricing is astronomically high and PREDATORY to say the least. For the same job, I was quoted between $6,500 and $7,000 from 3 other large companies. These same companies also quoted me between $14,000 and $16,000 to SUPPLY ALL MATERIALS and LABOR. Sooo how could TC Backer possibly arrive at a number of $22,000 for just labor? I understand that companies need to make a profit to survive, but this just feels like they were trying to rob me and take advantage. I normally don’t write reviews especially on pricing, but their pricing was offensive and I feel the need to warn others. If you decide to work with them, please do your due diligence and get multiple quotes.

Right off the bat, they use sub-contractors for all of the work. Got a roof and gutters installed at the beginning of April. Fast install and a decent roof. Lack of sealant used around vents. Also, found several nail heads exposed along the ridge. As for the gutters, they look great, but they installed the downspouts at the opposite ends of where they originally were. They ran the front out into the middle of the front yard. Had them come back out and move them to theyre original locations. Had them come back out again to fix leaks in one of the downspouts. Overall, a decent job, but expected better for the price.

Thank you for your honest feedback, Conrad. We’re glad to hear you’re happy with the overall look of your new roof and gutters, but we sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced with the vent sealing, exposed nail heads, and downspout placement. At TC Backer Construction, we strive to deliver high-quality roofing and gutter installation work, and we appreciate you giving us the opportunity to return and address the concerns. Your feedback helps us continue improving our process and attention to detail moving forward.

Danny Larkin and his Team of guys did a thorough inspection, gave an honest recommendation on what would be the best way to address the our needs. Dave and Carlos were wonderful in site preparation. Surrounded house with protective materials to protect the landscaping. They showed up at 6:30 AM to prep, by 7:30 they were removing the old roof. After lunch they were finishing up the membrane and then the shingles started going up. Most of the house was shingled by 6:30. I really liked the real supervisor I can’t remember her name unfortunately but she was on the call making sure the guys were not making a big mess. Day two the Rest of the roof was completed on the house and shed. Jacob came with the gutter crew and took off gutters and downspouts and prepped then began the process of creating on the spot our selected rain gutters. The gutter making machine was great from a roll of metal to a gutter shape was pretty cool. 😎. The shed need a large amount of roof wood only two sheets of roofing plywood. An extra $165 in materials but it was needed. My toys live in there. The house was done by 3 and final inspection and walk around was done by 5 pm . Two days and a great looking roof and gutters. Next will be siding and windows next year assuming I get enough interest to pay for it. Note I had 4 estimates from Able & Sons, PJ Fitzpatrick, and Par One. I liked Danny’s proposal best. He was professional, informative, to the point didn’t over sell, the old roof shingles were installed in 1996 it was time. The wood was all good so all that needed replacing was the vent boots and shingles. The gutters were damaged and cracked in some places and our woodpecker had done a number of holes. Cool thing the bird nest removal was successful and birds returned successfully to the reinstalled nest on gutter downspouts. I’m very happy with everything. Danny was around frequently checking on statuses with Dave and Jacob and Carlos. Very professional all of them.

What a great experience! We had a tree fall on our house and needed help. Collin came out immediately. He and Lauren worked with our Insurance company and took care of all the arrangements. Today they arrived to replace our roofing and gutters. Everyone is so nice, polite and professional including Collin, Dave and the entire team on the roof.
