  I went with Richard’s roof around 10 years ago. I had a horrible experience with them. I had leaks which they did not fix. Jim came out and refused to go on my roof to inspect it saying he was “too old” to climb up on a roof or crawl into an attic. Of course he never said that prior to payment. I’m currently having issues around my chimney which is dipping. I pointed that out to them and they insisted that was normal. That was a lie and was told that by another roofer. I could go on but I believe you get the picture. I know someone else that went with them and had problems that were never fixed either. I believe they changed their name for fear of lawsuits from jobs they did badly. I’m sure there are some jobs they do okay. It probably depends on the team you get. Do yourself a huge favor and go with a different company. Don’t chance it. I got a lot of good comments about Rapid roofing or Kearns brothers. They actually stick by their work. I am a senior on a limited budget and am facing having to replace a roof that was a disaster.DONT DO IT!!! Oh yes one more thing. I would take the positive reviews with a grain of salt. I noticed that their negative reviews tend to disappear. Why is that Jim???

  We are honestly sympathetic to the situation with you roof & "dipping" chimney, Ms. Watson. However, from your own review - your roof is at a minimum 10 years old, and unfortunately issues can arise as a roof ages especially if it is not maintained. It would be our pleasure to help, but we have no idea who your are and cannot find any information in our records of connecting with you recently regarding your roofing issues. On another note, we did not change the name out of concern for being sued - sadly the owner of "Richards Roofing", who performed the work on your home, passed away nearly four years ago. Jim & his wife - Lisa participated in an asset sale with his family and a new company was born...their company -- James Swift Construction, INC. DBA "Richards & Swift Roofing". They chose to keep the name "Richards" as part of the new DBA name to honor Dale & his family's legacy. If you have any further questions regarding the asset sale or their new company they would be happy to answer them.   Our apologies that the conversation you had with Jim left you believing we don’t do repairs on roofs that are more than 10 years old. That is just not the case, Mr. Dolch, we will repair a roof of any age! Regarding your statement, “Glad to sell a roof” - Our team works very diligently to ensure that our customers have a reliable, healthy roof to protect their homes from the elements. If we believe a repair will help, then that is what we will recommend but in some cases, roofs need more than a repair and that is when we recommend other options which include replacing an entire roof – not just to “sell a roof”, it is because we can’t in good faith leave a customer believing their roof is in good condition when in reality it is not. We appreciate that you reached out to us, and we wish you the best!

  Had Dale Richards do this roof 5.5 years ago. Had a leak since day 1, and tried multiple times to get them to fix it. Now that it's Richards & Swift, Mr. Swift states he will not honor my warranty. Had to pay another company come and fix it right. They reported nails from the old roof causing leaks as well as a complete failure to flash in these skylights. All they did in the past was pour on caulk.

  Mr. Bauman, we apologize you feel as though you have been "ghosted" by Jim and our company. However, Jim did return to your home several times to help resolve your concerns; going above and beyond, taking care of things that were not part of our contract with you. Some of the items you mentioned in your review, like fixing your gutters, are an additional cost which was explained to you at the time of your estimate. Other items we are unsure of the validity as you never brought them to Jim’s attention when he was at your home. After the final conversation Jim had with you, he realized there was never going to be a point where you were completely satisfied unless you got all the extra work you wanted done for free; unfortunately, we don’t work for free. We wish you the best!

  Highly recommend this company. Jim gave me a free quote and explained everything thoroughly without pushing for the sale. I could tell he was highly knowledgeable when it came to roofing. Their quote was the lowest I had received so far. The crew came out two days later and got the job done same day. Overall the process was smooth, quick and very straightforward.

  Good honest roofing company that stands by their work. No 3 hour long sales pitch, affordable, didn't try to upsell us on things we didn't need. Transferable warrenty. Came out got the job done very quickly, and did a fantastic clean up. I would use this company again!

  If I could give Richards and Swift Roofing more stars, I would.  After trying unsuccessfully with several other roofers (who either didn't call back, wouldn't show up to work, lied to us, wasted our time, made things worse, or all of the above), I finally found Richards and Swift Roofing and talked with Alex about our house in Royal Oak.  Even though it wasn't a whole new roofing job, he was immediately working to fix the problem, even calling our insurance adjuster to help us.  Alex not only returned calls right away and answered all my questions, but also promptly got his crew out to our house to fix our roof.  They were quick, thorough, and professional and didn't charge a penny more than the original quote (even though there were a couple of extra unexpected details needed).  Working with Alex at R&S was exactly what we needed, and I wish I had known about them earlier, as it would have saved us a TON of grief.  Thanks, Alex!

  Richard’s & Swift Roofing did a great job for a reasonable price. They also did vinyl siding repair for us. They were here by 8:30 am and cleaned and done by 5;30pm. Would definitely recommend them!!! We are very happy with the work they did on our home. Thank you Richard’s & Swift Roofing!!

  Last fall I needed a new roof, I also needed tree limbs trimmed before the roof could be replaced. Jim recommended a great place for the tree limb removal, he has connections because he has been doing this for a long time. I was so pleased with my beautiful new roof that I left the Richards & Swift lawn sign in my yard until winter, I wanted everyone in the neighborhood know I was happy with Jim and his amazing team.

  Recently purchased a house in Ortonville, and had Jim come out to take a look at the roof. He found issues that the inspector didn't find . He explained everything to us and gave us a very reasonable price. The crew was great and cleaned up very well. I highly recommend Richards and Swift Roofing!
