Back in September of 2025. I chose moss roofing to repair hail damage to our home. I chose moss because they had good reviews and they also lived down the street from us. Unfortunately, things didn't go as I would have hoped they would …

Thank you for taking the time to leave this detailed review, and for the opportunity to make things right along the way. There were more small mishaps on this job than I'd like to see but I'm glad our team was able to come back and correct them. On the roof vents: your home originally had box vents for bathroom exhaust. This is the incorrect vent type for a bathroom exhaust so we replaced them with broan vents and insulated ducts. The insulation on the ducts prevents condensation from dripping onto your ceiling from the vent duct itself. The ice you saw forming around the broan vent was from warm, moist bathroom air venting correctly. We had 3-4 weeks of consecutive below-freezing temperatures this past winter which prevented the ice and snow from melting. On the billing notice: our system generates automatic payment reminders based on the completion date rather than when insurance funds are actually received. This sometimes happens on insurance jobs when insurance providers take longer than usual to issue the funds. As a contractor, we have a limited number of days after completion to collect payment before the ability to file lien is no longer available. So, our invoice reminders follow that process as opposed to insurance companies since they do not typically notify us when payments are issued directly to the homeowner. I appreciate you flagging the review requests. An automated text following up the day after you'd already asked us to stop was tone-deaf, and that's a gap in our process, not a reflection of how we want to treat customers. We're correcting that. We appreciate you sticking with us through the fixes, and we're glad we were able to resolve the outstanding items. Everyone makes mistakes; however, it is how you handle them that sets you apart. Thank you again for your patience and for the honest feedback. It helps us do better. Beverly Moss

We had an absolutely horrible experience with Moss Roofing and can not warn strongly enough to use another general contractor. They were tasked to do roofs, gutters, restore siding to clapboard, paint the entire house and repair a leaking …

I’m sorry there were issues with the 1st painting crew we sent to your home. I agree the painting was unacceptable. Cody spoke to you about getting 2nd crew out. The 2nd crew corrected the issues and it is my understanding you were completely satisfied with the painting from the 2nd crew. I have seen the after pictures of your home -what an amazing transformation. There was some minor damage to the floor in the room where the drywall/plaster was to be removed and replaced. The entire 2nd story flooring (refinishing wood floors) was completed. As to the no show, the 1st crews crew leader had to go to hospital over his gallbladder. You personally hired the 2nd crew we sent out to finish the 2nd story refinishing to do your downstairs floors. As to the moving of the furniture and the Air BnB, you indicated you would handle the moving of the furniture and Air BnB since you were wanting to hire the 2nd flooring crew to take care of the 1st floor. You had originally said it was something you were planning on doing. As to the OSB, we have pictures/documentation showing OSB was needed on your home. Insurance would not have paid for it unless we could prove it was necessary and that we did it. The invoice was sent to you and the only unfinished item was the upstairs floor that you wanted to wait until after the holidays. We called you and told you we would be placing a lien to insure we receive payment and it was nothing personal. Lien was removed immediately after payment. Again, sorry for the mishaps. It was my understanding you were completely happy with the end product. Regards Beverly Moss

Overpriced for what they did. They patched a hole on our roof that took less than an hour to do.and chargedus 750.00 That to me was not fair. The job was like maybe a Two hundred dollarjob. And we we're charged seven hundred @ fifty. That was there minuium. Was not in pressed.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I would have hoped that it would have been a 5-star experience since we were able to fix your leak quickly on the same day that you signed the repair proposal and have been flexible with taking payment in multiple installations. In regards to a $750 repair minimum, we have that minimum to ensure our installers are paid well, every job is insured, and we have the office staff to provide a quick and quality customer experience. We make all of our customers aware of this pricing and ensure it is signed for before we complete the work. We are very transparent in this. Many of our competitors are over $1000 for project minimums although some may be less

We had Moss Roofing replace our roof after it accumulated sufficient storm damage to warrant the repairs. On the plus side, their coordination of the inspection, working with insurance, and coordinating subcontractors was all very efficient and easy from our experience. You can tell they do a lot of roof jobs and have streamlined the process. The problem is the quality of the work and some of the products used. The selection of shingles is pretty small. The crew that did the work was quick (mostly done in one day), but that reflects in the finished product too. The new gutters that were installed already look worse than the ones that were taken down. Some follow-up work had to be done on the drip edge, and when hanging Christmas lights this year, I see that it has a bunch of crude cuts where it was notched to fit around the old gutters. Now with the new gutters up, the old notches are all visible, which just looks junky. Seems like a miscommunication and poor coordination between Moss Roofing and the gutter subcontractor. The results aren't terrible, but I don't know that I would use Moss Roofing again. Would definitely look into other options first. Edit: Added a picture that shows 90% of our issues. The vertical staining on the gutters is after only two years. The old gutters never did that in their entire 17 years. The misplaced notches and crooked gutter hangers can't be seen from the ground, but do give an indication on the overall quality of work.

I appreciate you taking the time to write this review! Candidly, everyone's shingle and product selections over the past 2.5 years has dwindled down to core colors due to manufacturing issues across the country. We were grateful our partners were able to consistently get material to us. What you referenced with the edge metal, it was because our standard install practices include gutter apron (a better and larger product) over the smaller drip edge. It results in cuts in the product were the original gutter hangers are, but functionally provides better protection for your home. It definitely stinks to get a 2-star review over product availability and gutter apron cuts, but we do appreciate you taking the time to write about your experience with us. Edit: The photo you uploaded was what was referenced in my initial response. That is how almost every home in the state where gutter apron was installed looks. We used a larger, upgraded edge metal at to provide better protection of the gutter board. To install it you need to notch out where the initial gutters were installer to get it on, then hang the new gutters slightly below. As the owner, I am confident with the install. As for the streaking, white gutters with a new roof might show increased discoloration depending on the foliage around the home the first year or two. We would have happily had someone come out and power wash for you had you just called us instead of writing a negative review.

We had a small section of our roof reshingled after wind damage, which cost $400. We are happy to pay professionals for their services and had a smooth process getting a quote and scheduled for the repair. Unfortunately, the repair work lasted less than 4 days. When we inquired about having it fixed, we were told it was not something they would fix due to the wind speeds that caused it but we were never told of these limitations and the shingles they used are supposed to be rated up to 140 mph winds. We were told they would come back out to assess what happened but we never heard from them again. Pretty disappointing given the positive reviews and experiences of others. We would be in the same spot we are now had we tacked the $400 to our roof and let the wind blow it away.

Rebecca, I am so sorry to here about your frusturations. We completed your repair days before a catestrophic wind event in which the wind speeds exceeded the manufacturer warranty of the shingles repaired. While I completely understand why you chose to move forward with a repair, it was our recommendation for your roof to do a complete replacement with dimensional shingles that carry a 130 MPH wind warranty for this very reason. The roof you currently have is a 25 year, 3-Tab shingle. These shingles come with a 60 MPH wind warranty. We have experienced a wind storm since the time of repair that was at, or slightly exceeded, 60 MPH. I completely understand being frusturated, but we cannot warranty against acts of God that exceed the current roofs capabilities. Lastly, I made it clear from the beginning that once blow offs start on a roof as old as yours, that additional blow offs wouldnt be far behind as the roof itself is towards the end of its functional life. If you would like to have a more in depth conversation about short and long term ways to help with the issues you are having, please feel free to reach back out. I genuinely would love the opportunity to reopen our previous conversations and see if there is a way to help you and your family. Best, Adam Moss

We knew when we moved in a few years ago that we would need a new roof. We called so many companies and got a lot of quotes this year, but they just felt too far out of our budget and didn't include everything we wanted. I saw a Facebook ad a month ago about a family-owned company and thought I would take one last chance...100% worth it. Moss Roofing explained everything in simple terms, they were straight to the point, and weren't pushy with any upsells. The roofers were here dawn til dusk making sure everything was perfect, and even navigated bad weather. I thought we would have to go another winter with a leaky roof, but very thankful for finding Moss instead!! 10/10, would recommend.

We had complete roof replacement, repair and install of new siding and trim boards and new gutter guards. Cody was great to work with and any issues that came up during the process were resolved to our satisfaction. Finished product looked great. Only reason for a four instead of a five rating was an issue with the gutter guards. The one we selected did not work as intended for our gutters. The installers tried to make them work anyhow and they looked bad. However they were removed and the cost completely refunded. Overall, very happy we went with Moss roofing over the other contractors who quoted the job.

Thank you for the detailed feedback and choosing us for your project! I am glad to hear that Cody was great to work with and helped you through the process. We appreciate you bringing up the gutter guard issue. I am glad we were able to work together on that and get the refund issued instead of leaving you with a product that would not work for your home. Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need anything down the road!

Very friendly and very attentive to even the smallest details. On the day of my roof being installed they promised me they would be there at 7am and at 7am they rang the doorbell. The crew was very organized and did an amazing job. My salesman Cody was there from the initial visit on keeping me up to date and answering any questions that I may have. The project supervisor Alan was extremely knowledgeable and explained in detail what materials were being used, why they were used, and all the benefits of them. I would use Moss Roofing anytime.

How long does an asphalt shingle roof last? The lifespan of an asphalt shingle roof depends on the type of shingles used, installation quality, ventilation, and exposure to weather conditions. On average, most 3-tab asphalt shingles last about 15–20 years, while architectural shingles typically last 20–30 years or more with proper maintenance. However, Indiana’s weather—especially hail, wind, heavy rain, and temperature swings—can shorten a roof’s lifespan. As a roof ages, shingles begin to lose granules, curl at the edges, or become brittle. These signs indicate the roof may be nearing the point where roof repair is no longer sufficient and a full roof replacement should be considered. Other warning signs include frequent roof leaks, missing shingles after storms, and visible sagging or soft spots on the roof decking. Regular roof inspections are the best way to track roof condition and catch storm damage early before it turns into expensive structural issues. A professional roofing contractor can assess whether your roof still has useful life remaining or if it is time for replacement. Moss Roofing provides free roof inspections across Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky to help homeowners evaluate roof age, storm damage, and long-term roofing needs.4 days agoCall now
