  Case in point: The wisest course before embarking upon such a project like re-roofing your home is to obtain bids from different contractors. I personally like to get three bids from individuals that on the front end have positive recommendations. That said, this time around I am actually obtaining a fourth bid. The reason? The bid proposal from McDowell's was so far out of the ball park compared to my other two bids, which were reasonably close, that it was hard to classify it as legit. Yes, I was comparing "apples with apples." Perhaps, I was considered "ripe for the picking."

  Mr. Freeland I wish you luck on finding someone to help you with your roofing project. Sorry that you did not agree with my quote but you do have a challenging situation that requires quite a bit more labor and job cost than the average roofing job.

  Very poor quality of work. Shingles laid over plywood where they evidently ran out of tar paper and improperly flashed in multiple spots leading to several leaks.

  We have never worked for this person before. He is what Google calls a Local Guide so he gives reviews in order to get rewarded from Google. Not sure why people are allowed to give reviews for any business they have never used. Should be a legal penalty.

  Terrible company!! Don't waste your money. I got a new roof from them right after the 2011 tornado. It leaks EVERYWHERE. They came out and blamed so many different things. Fixed ALL those things and guess what? Still leaks. 2 other reputable companies came out to look at it. They said it was the worst job they have ever seen and that basically I needed an entire new roof. Also said they didnt even use the correct roofing nails. They never tried to make it right either. I also know of 2 others they did dirty ad well. I normally don't wrote reviews. However I can not allow someone to spend over 7000+ and get a terrible roofing job like I did!!! I guess I should have been smart and called the BBB. please do your self a favor and don't use this company.

  I actually replied to this posting immediately after it was left. I don't know why my reply was removed. We did replace the roof for Ms. Martin during the time that she stated. She called to let us know that she had (A Leak). Not several that she states here. When we went out to service it, the only place that we could see could possibly leak was around the chimney where she said she had a problem. The chimney was of old construction with bad mortar in the joints and needed repair. We advised her that she needed to have tuckpointing work completed by a professional brick layer. Rather than do that, she obviously called a competitor of ours who came out and gave her a bad report in order to sell her additional repairs that were not necessary. According to Ms. Martin, they told her we used the wrong nails. If you are familiar with our business, you'll know that that is a ridicules statement. We only use 1 1/4inch roofing nails for the type of shingle that she has. After driving by her home, I noticed that she has had a new chimeny flashing installed which I'm sure has stopped her leak. But she has never called to let us know about it. I doubt that she ever will.

  I ended up contacting 4 different companies to get an estimate on my roof replacement. Although they weren’t the cheapest, their price was extremely reasonable. The primary reason I went with he is that they made an effort to communicate. The roof is done, and still haven’t gotten an estimate from one of them. This was a big deal as I had a short timeframe in which I needed the work done in. In short…very responsive, reasonably priced, and the new roof looks great! Thank you Claude!

  I am extremely happy with the job that McDowell Roofing did. They did a wonderful job, all the details were done right, and they cleaned their mess up when they were done too. I can't find any trace of the mess at all anywhere. The new vents look great as does the new matching flashing around the chimney. I know they worked really hard to get that to look right. There’s simply nothing negative I can say about them or the job they did. One note to potential future roof buyers: I should have asked to see a sample of the actual shingle. We would have liked the roof to have been darker. This is not the fault of McDowell or anything they did though. I went to the supplier and got a brochure of the colors we were considering, but the sample was only a small sample photo. I also took a photo of the house and went to the manufacturer’s website’s virtual remodeler and looked at the roof as how it would look with every shingle they offer (as well as another manufacturer). I should have asked to see an actual sample shingle at the supplier though, but I figured the photo sample from the brochure and the virtual remodeler were sufficient. Again, this in not a criticism of McDowell in any way. It’s just a matter of not seeing an actual shingle first. I chose Black Sable and should have gone with Onyx Black. But back to the job they did, I only have praise and accolades for McDowell Roofing. Claude was quite professional and easy to work with and the crew showed up exactly when they were supposed to be here. But before I had a chance to lock the dogs up when they arrived, they got out and went running away. Rather than standing around and letting me deal with it, the crew immediately took the initiative, stopped what they were doing, jumped into action, and all went running after them as a team to corral them – all without me even asking for any help. They were able to catch them and got them back home. They’re fast runners too… faster than I can move as I’ve tried to catch th

  Claude was really helpful with fixing the tree damage to our roof and working with our insurance. He advocated for us to get what we needed and was very concerned with doing things the right way. He was always accessible for questions and was great at walking us through the process as well. Our roof looks way better than it did before it was hit by a tree.

  I found a shingle that I thought had come off my roof on the ground. With all the wind we’ve been having I was hoping there was no more damage than that. Called him up and asked to have things checked out. He came over the very next day and gave me the truth with no runaround. Said it wasn’t my shingle and that my roof looked great, no issues. I’ll be calling him the next time something comes up. He’s earned my business.

  Claude McDowell should up for an early insurance claim inspection since I had work that day. He was very flexible and friendly. Once we got my claim he knew I was headed out of town in 2 weeks and amazingly he and his crew gave me a new beautiful roof within the 2 weeks before I left town! It was an easy process and a speedy one. I'm very thankful for the great work they did! 10/10 would recommend.

  I was told by 2 roofing companies that I needed a new roof and had hail damage. Claude came and looked at my roof and said I had 10 years left on it. Very kind and honest man.

  Mr. Mcdowell and his company went out of their way to explain how things would work with my insurance after the tornado in May. They replaced my entire roof and the insurance was only going to pay to replace the siding on three sides of my house, but he worked with me so we could get it all replaced. My home is absolutely beautiful now thanks to Mcdowell roofing and restoration. Best company I have ever worked with!!!!

  We worked with Claude after having May 26 tornado damage to our roof - he was recommended by our insurance company which I figured made him a good place to start. He was very responsive and friendly to work with from day one. Once the work started, his team was friendly and professional. They replaced our roof as promised and cleaned up well after the job. Claude took care of the depreciation submission with our insurance carrier and made the whole process pretty simple. I hope we don't need a roof again for a long time, but if/when we do, we will call Claude and his team!

  Claude and his crew are amazing. They made the process of getting a new roof for my grandma so easy. Claude was very quick to come out and get us a quote after we got storm damage as well as put on a temporary patch to prevent further damage. After we got insurance approval Claude got us scheduled quickly. They made the whole process very easy for my grandma and did a great job on the new roof, gutters, and cleanup. I can’t recommend them enough.
