  Malcarne has a terrible reputation in the area. They did a solar install and several heat pumps which both of which failed in the first year. We are pursuing legal remedies since they have refused to fix.

  If you want to pay more than double for an incomplete / poor quality job - go with Malcarne. We did - and found out years later that they didn't finish blowing in the insulation in various walls.

  Called for a NYSERDA energy audit. Scheduled me three months later. No report, no recommendations. Basically a fishing expedition to upsell products or services, but the service is pretty terrible, and I'm not willing to find out about working with them if my experience thus far has been so bad. Maybe if I had led with the massive remodel I am undertaking my experience would have been different, but I felt like the smart thing to do was better understand my house's hidden needs before we focused on the cosmetic changes. In the lengthy time I've been waiting, I had two bathrooms remodeled, all new duxt work for two floors installed, and a geothermal system with two air handlers completed. I'm baffled by the other reviews, and hope your experience is different than mine. It probably will be if you lead with the big dollar projects.

  “Two-car garage with a finished room above — not a simple build. Joseph was involved from the design phase all the way through final inspection and it showed in the result. Permits, framing, insulation, exterior siding to match the house — everything was handled in-house. No subcontractor confusion, no finger-pointing when questions came up. Just a well-run job that finished on time. Highly recommend.”

  “We needed a first-floor bathroom added to our colonial — something we'd put off for years because we dreaded the process. Francisco made it easy. Clear scope, fair price, timeline that he actually stuck to. The tile work is beautiful, the finishes are exactly what we picked, and the space feels like it was always there. I wish we'd done this sooner and I wish we'd called Malcarne even sooner than that.”

  “We added a 400 sq ft master suite to our 1960s cape and honestly didn't know what to expect. Joseph walked the property with us before a single measurement was taken and helped us think through things we hadn't even considered — roofline, foundation, flow from the existing structure. Francisco kept the build moving without ever making us feel out of the loop. The addition looks like it was always part of the house. That's the highest compliment I can give.”

  I have been a longtime client of Malcarne Contracting for over 20 years and counting! I first met Joseph Malcarne through my role as board president of a large condominium complex. We selected his company (from among a long list of other general contractors) to rebuild a cluster of multi-story condo units which were destroyed in a catastrophic fire. Several years later, I hired Malcarne Contracting to complete my townhome renovation which involved a large expansion (including master bedroom, ensuite bathroom with a steam room and spa). Most recently (2023-present), I once again engaged Joseph Malcarne, this time to assist with key design/construction elements of my new Net Zero dream home. More specifically, Malcarne is helping to guide critical areas such as optimizing the building envelope (windows/doors/insulation), maximizing energy production (solar/geothermal), and leveraging high efficiency HVAC systems which will also be installed by his firm. I can say with utmost confidence that Joseph Malcarne runs one of the most experienced and trustworthy operations in the industry! His background in engineering, broad talents and passion for delivering quality results sets him apart from everyone else.   We have had Malcarne Contracting here several times mainly for two solar water heating systems. First, about eight years ago, to install a system, including panels & pump, to help heat our pool, and to instruct us how to operate it. Second, to alter an existing solar hot water system in our home, that was malfunctioning. (I need to point out that the company that installed it years ago, went AWOL months after installation.) In both cases Malcarne was prompt, courteous, efficient, and patiently explained how they worked. They know their stuff!
