I have read your comments & not sure if you have contacted us directly or the builder to look at your concerns. Your address and name are not listed in the review. I will address your invalid points, and stress that you are using defamatory language & you are incorrect regarding installation of asphalt shingles. Madera Roofing has been in business for over 50 years and we stand behind every job we install. First of all, to make clear you said "potential leak" & there was no water intrusion. You are 100% incorrect regarding about valley installation & that "double shingles" will cause premature failure. There are 2 options at the valley; roofing cement or a starter shingle. That "extra" shingle is called a bleeder & is not required but HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by manufacturers to help with keeping water flow directed to the center of the valley. A cost we could avoid, but choose to install on every home to offer the best roof possible. Refer to building code 704.3.2.1: 704.3.2.1 Attachment at Eaves, Rakes, Valleys, Gable Ends and Starter Strips where shingles intersect with eaves, rakes, valleys and gable ends, starter strips and shingles shall be set in a minimum 8-inch-wide (203 mm) strip of approved flashing cement. The nail sizes you are showing are the correct sizes. The reason for the different sizes of nails are for different uses on the roof. Your home has exposed sheathing (not stucco) at the overhangs & smaller nails are used to not penetrate the wood. Larger nails are used at the ridge and field of the roof. We always install underlayment, and if the inspector said we didn't install underlayment, they would have had to remove shingles to determine if underlayment was not installed. What you call lifting valleys is actually shingles settling on the roof and conforming to what's underneath. Regarding your defamatory comment of using "caulking to cover our tracks", it is required to use an approved adhesive at metal flashing junctions since you

Nothing but the best experience with Madera Roofing! First, I was certain that I need an entire new roof and was pleasantly surprised to learn that this was not the case, when in fact, I just needed some roof maintenance. I received two …

Not trying to snitch, so I hope you guys have more than one driver, but at least one of them needs to be taught that in California, state law (Vehicle Code § 21656) requires any vehicle proceeding on a two-lane highway at less than the normal flow of traffic to pull over into designated turnouts safely if 5 or more vehicles are lined up behind it. Your driver is already going 35mph in a 55... it can't be that hard to slow down just a little more to use the turnout and stop holding up a long line of your neighbors.... unless he is just that lazy, in which case this review is deserved. I drive a trailer loaded with thousands of pounds of lumber up into the mountains a lot. It isn't hard to use those turnouts even at 55mph with a fully loaded trailer. I'm just saying it would be cool if you could encourage your drivers to try it out sometime.

I apologize, we will address with our drivers and tell them to pull over. After speaking with the drivers, if it was Tuesday afternoon one of the trucks was having mechanical issues and they were trying to drive as far as they could go to get to a safe place to pull over. The truck eventually broke down.

Where this page comes from

Every figure above is Google’s, captured on 24 September 2026. The star average and the 14 ratings behind it are counted by Google across all of its reviews. The review text on this page is a sample — we hold 14, of which 13 have any text — and it is not everything Google shows.
