Was calling around to get a quote for a roof inspection as we have a leak in our roof. He quoted $475 just for an inspection only of a residential roof-not to fix it. Seemed very pricey, so I called another company who provided a free, quotation and fixed the roof issue for $150 all in. If it was not a job that he wanted to do it would’ve been better to say that rather than giving an outrageous price. I read the owner's response-it would have taken him less than 1 minute to explain that on the phone-that there was a difference between roofing inspector and contractor. My opinion still stands.

Perhaps you are not aware of our exact role. We are an independant roof inspection firm. Our profesional associations (IIBEC) code of ethics does not allow us to do repairs, only inspections and reports (in order to ensure that there is no conflict of interest. Our role is to give you an unbiased opinion regarding roofing subjects. Regarding rates, our fees are typically only 50% to 75% of our competitors. You were obviously looking for a roofing contractor, NOT a roofing inspector, when you called me you requested a quote for a roof inspeciton. which is what I gave you a quote for. Had you requested a roofing contractor I would have happily referred you to one. I hope your repair went well and I wish you well. To be fully trasparent, we have received negative reviews from ficticious clients which we have had properly removed. In this case, we received an email from a service offering to have this review removed shown here: RECEIVED THIS: - noticed this when looking at online: sukaina ajwani left you a 1 star review saying: "Was calling around to get a quote for a roof inspection as we have a leak in our roof. We had a structural roof issue and Carl came to our place, he basically poked his head through the attic opening. When he sent us his report it was a bunch of arial Google views of our house and a report telling us our roof was sagging. For that he charged us $500 and told us we would have to pay him about another $1000 for further details on how to fix our problem. He led me to believe on the phone that we would be told what needed done but really it was just to say "yes your roof is sagging". I could have told him that!

Most unorganized company ibe ever dealt with. Project start date was pushed by a month. Wasted Time getting bids on products the homeowner didnt want. Well known in the industry for taking bids and having his own in house crew bid lower to win the contract. Complete sleaze ball

To confirm, Joshua Ford (Back Country Roofing) is not a client, but a contractor that submitted a failed bid on a project. His bid was rejected due to warnings from his provided references. When a client is protected it is predictable the the person they are protected from would be upset. Another example of our due diligence saving the client from a bad actor.

Carl is an absolute gem! I had some inspection issues with a home that I had made an offer on and I called LMRI to ask for help. I wasn’t sure what questions to ask because I don’t know anything about attics or roofing or how an old fire issue with one part of a roof can affect the integrity of the whole roof. He reviewed all the information and gave me a thorough explanation of all the issues that needed addressing and replacing, what could happen if I did nothing and left it as is, as well as provided non biased quotes for each part of the roof/materials and labour. His level of knowledge and attention to detail made me feel like he captured the full picture. Some people say ignorance is bliss, but ignorance can also be costly if you make decisions without fully understanding all the information. Thank you Carl!

They went above and beyond, squeezed us into his busy schedule and helped us communicate with our roofer about the deficiencies that were noted in the report. Glad to have him on our side.

Carl is a lifesaver! I just had a roof installed by a company that had really great reviews but even with my untrained eyes, I noticed several deficiencies. I called Carl for a roof inspection and he came right away because he knew it was urgent, especially with the heavy rain forecast. He is a true professional and very experienced. He found several serious deficiencies and informed me that not only could the roof not be repaired and was at high risk of leakage in multiple areas, but that I would need a complete roof replacement. I sent Carl's detailed inspection report to the roofing company, who of course, denied the seriousness of the deficiencies and suggested simple fast patches. Luckily Carl took the time to carefully explain to me why none of the proposed fixes would work and why a full roof replacement was needed and also walked me through the next steps. I'm really grateful for his support and expertise during a very stressful time. If you have any concerns about your current roof or just want to talk to a roofing expert about what you need done, Carl is the perfect roof inspector for you! Thanks so much Carl!

I highly recommend Carl and his services. Not only is he prompt, honest, professional, and actually cares, he delivers his unbiased report in record time. With an unregulated industry, having Carl’s report is the best way to ensure that sloppy work is caught and remedied before the damage occurs.

Mainstreet contracted Lower Mainland Roof Inspections and Consulting Ltd. to supervise multiple roofing projects in our residential building portfolio. We were always very satisfied with their work, receiving detailed and comprehensive reports, we are also always advised on best course of action from a technical standpoint. Lower Mainland's input helped us to find and address roofing deficiencies that may otherwise have been missed. We would definitely recommend their services.

TLDR: If you need a roofing inspector, hire Carl Inkman. (detailed experience below) I hired a roofing company to do a torch-over job on my existing roof. Unfortunately, the job was done horrendously. Based on my research, I was able to identify a ton of issues which I flagged. After back and forths with the company, and constant denial of poor workmanship - I asked them to halt the work. I contacted two roofing companies to determine if the roof was salvageable or not, and when I passed on their confirmation of all the issues, the contractors I hired continued to act as if the job was done appropriately. Eventually, they came back to discuss my issues which led to them suggesting I hire an inspector and that they would fix any deficiencies if they came up. I hired Carl based on his experience, credentials, and the level of detail and clarity he provided in our communications prior to booking the inspection. I was not disappointed. Not only did he provide a thorough report, but he also gave me tips on how to protect myself against the company putting a lien against my house in the event of me terminating the contract due to material breach. After the inspection, he responded to communications from the roofing company. Now that I'm in the process of hiring a new roofing company, he's made himself available to answer my questions about the company I'm looking to potentially hire. This an entire experience has been a nightmare, but Carl has been a silver lining for me. I'm very grateful that I hired him... man, is this guy ever an expert in his craft. I truly can't thank him and recommend him enough...
