We hired Jim’s T&R Construction Ltd. after a windstorm to repair damage on our roof. We paid $1,200 in cash for the repair. Jim never told us the work was temporary or that it would fail. After the first heavy rainfall, we had a major leak in the exact spot they worked on. Water came through the roof and caused damage to our wall and interior. When we contacted Jim about the problem, instead of standing behind his work, he told us it would cost another $3,000 to “fix it properly.” At no point during the original job were we told that the repair was only a temporary solution or that additional work would be required. We paid for what we believed was a proper roof repair, and instead we ended up with more damage, more stress, and a much bigger bill. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Jim’s T&R Construction Ltd. to anyone looking for reliable, honest roofing work. ——- I need to correct the statement in your reply. At no point during the repair did you or your crew explain that this was only a temporary patch or that the roof required a full section replacement. That information is now being introduced after the fact, which is not what was communicated to us when we agreed to the work and paid $1,200. We relied on your professional assessment at the time. If there was any uncertainty about the effectiveness of the repair or a risk it would fail, that should have been clearly explained before you left the job site. Instead, the repair failed during the first heavy rainfall, in the exact same area, and caused interior damage to our home. We then had to deal with additional repair costs as a result. We are not “trying to take advantage” of anyone—we are addressing the consequences of work that did not hold and expectations that were never properly set. Clear communication and standing behind your work are basic expectations for any contractor. We are simply sharing our experience so others are fully informed.

Sorry you feel this way. When I took the job to patch your roof neither of us could see the real problem, it’s over 3 stories high. Once we saw the entire section needed replacement you thought I should the patch price should cover the entire job. That’s just not how it works. Too bad you weren’t more reasonable instead of trying to take advantage of people

DO NOT use this company. They do not warranty their work and they dont give a damn if something goes wrong after. They did not replace the flashing on my roof. Water literally started drizzling down one of my walls a few months later. When I called he was rude and said it was ice build up (wouldnt even come check). I did not know what to do so i climbed up on the roof and sprayed flex seal around every pipe, chimney, etc.. It stopped leaking for a year. Now the water continues to drizzle down the wall and our asbestos in the attic is at risk of coming down with the ceiling. Another company took a video and told us our roof was not properly done. I was so nice to the guys, I left out drinks and did a timmies run for them. I just kind of trusted it was done right, I dont know enough about roofing. Now im suffering the consequenses of not doing my research. Do not use them!!!! To your response... why on earth would I climb into my asbestos attic??? I climbed on the roof, took the snow off and sprayed everything on the roof. If it temporarily fixed the water leak that is a workmanship problem. Is the quote and payment cheque not enough to prove I hired you? Wow

Sorry you feel this way Sarah, I’m not sure if you’re an actual customer or not but if you got up in your attic and fixed it for a year with flex seal, I promise you the problem is NOT with your roof. That being said, I’d be happy to come over personally and check it out

I used city roofing and contracting in Ottawa. They couldn’t clean up a free themselves and didn’t have enough experience to properly waterproof the roof and it leaked. I had to send my own guy there to clean up and there’s repairs due to the leak. The money was paid except $800 to cover the damages . And now they’re upset. If only they knew how to shingle

I called to ask if someone could do a small facia. Job.. He called and said he would be there the next day. No show no phone call. I called in a weeks time and he said the same thing that was weeks ago and still no word. I guess being a senior and it is not a big paying job don't matter.

I requested a quote through Jim's website on Monday. On Tuesday I got a quote that was significantly less than I'd anticipated paying and a start date the following week. On Wednesday Jim said he could start the following day. On Thursday I had a new roof. The crew that did the work were courteous and efficient. I'm thrilled with the work and the price.

Jim was kind enough to squeeze us in on a half day between jobs. We started the roof on our own and bit off more than we could chew in regards to time, weather and physical labour. Jim came and was so reassuring. They finished the job and his workers were knowledgeable and kind. They took extra care cleaning up so as to not leave nails behind. Jim has always been the most fair contractor for price (EVERY time), the work is guaranteed and I would never go with anyone else. Thanks again, mate!

Jim's T&R Construction — Website & Google Listing Update The website (jimstr.ca) has been fully modernized to replace the old Wix site, and it's now built to work hand-in-hand with your Google Business Profile. What we updated on the website: Ottawa-focused pages — dedicated service-area pages for Ottawa, Pembroke, Petawawa, Renfrew, Cobden, Eganville and Deep River, so the site ranks for searches in each town. Service pages for roofing, siding, soffit & fascia, and eavestrough, each with detailed, location-specific content. A new quote request form — now includes the customer's full street address, so every lead comes in ready for an on-site estimate, and the details land straight in Jim's inbox. A clickable project gallery — visitors can tap any project to see the full photo and description. Search-engine upgrades — faster loading, proper page titles and descriptions, structured data, an updated sitemap, and all dates refreshed to 2026. How this connects to the Google listing: The website and the Google Business Profile now reinforce each other. Google rewards consistency, so as we align the profile's description, service areas, and individual services to target Ottawa (in addition to the Valley), the matching pages on the website back up those claims — which strengthens ranking in both Google Search and Google Maps.Jun 8, 2026Learn more
