Groover roofing is working in the area. One of their work trucks backed out onto a busy state road directly in front of me! If I was going the posted speed limit, I would have hit him. If they work like they drive, I wouldn't hire them.

Sales Rep Robert tried to push a new roof that would be “in the $20,000+ region (when ours was just replaced in 2023), while also saying the work our chimney needs is “several thousands”. Highest quote from anyone so far by thousands - so definitely shop around. Worst part was when I asked what the most cost effective solution was since we had other problems pop up this year (furnace went and water line collapsed) so we couldn’t afford a job that was “thousands” he responded with “go find an independent contractor who will do it then”. Instead of trying to work with us on a solution somewhere in between or address our main issue, he got an attitude and brushed us off by telling us to find somewhere else. Do yourself a favor and look around to a company that doesn’t write you off because you can’t afford their vastly overpriced quote! Horrible way to isolate potential customers. Our neighborhood is close knit too so you best believe word will spread!

    Reply from the business

Ms. Balog, We appreciate you inviting us to your home to provide an estimate. However, the review you have written of Robert and my company is simply not true. Robert did not provide you with an estimate, as he came back to the office to meet with me and ensure he could get you the best solution and price possible. We pride ourselves on providing honest estimates for quality work, not quick fixes or bandages. We would be doing a disservice if we did not educate homeowners upfront about the potential leaks and problems with their roofs and chimneys. Some companies will do cheap, temporary work, but that is not us. “When Quality Counts” Brian Groover

“WHEN QUALITY COUNTS” … go somewhere else. (Edited at the end after the owner threatened to sue me for this review) In my opinion, Groover is an embarrassment to their industry and has no idea what QUALITY means. The QUALITY of communication? Poor. The QUALITY of accountability? Unscrupulous. The QUALITY of consideration for their customers? Sub-Standard. The QUALITY of treatment to this local Veteran who trusted them with THOUSANDS of dollars? Ungrateful, Arrogant, and Disrespectful. The QUALITY of common courtesy and professionalism from the owner? Grossly Non-Existent. Brief Details: Sadly, we had over $50,000 in storm damage to our home on 8/25/23. In trust, we signed Groover’s proposal on October 18, 2023 to restore our home. They took over $13,000 from us as a deposit for a $32K job and we were told *that day* we would get a call and have an installation date within 4 weeks. They then played cat and mouse with us for almost 16 weeks before we finally insisted, enough is enough. When I called to express my frustration, no one simply said, “I’m sorry. We dropped the ball.” During phone conversations on 2/2/24 Brian, the owner passed the blame to his salesman, Sean. Sean deferred to the production manager Val. Val said she knew nothing about requested communication… yet this company cashed our $13K check on 10/24/23 and proceeded to ignore us for OVER 3 MONTHS. When I demanded our money back I was told in a condescending tone by Brian Groover, “you’re irrational and unreasonable.” We were forced to pay a “restocking fee” of $1,366 - that’s more than our house payment! (if the products were in stock, why didn’t we hear from them, why weren’t we on their radar, and why weren’t the products installed???) and a reimbursement for the city permit so we could gather up the rest of our money from Groover. We are now starting over to have someone ELSE restore our home to wholeness. In my opinion, this company is a massive disappointment to the entire community due

Ms. Meredith has been using social media to direct you all to our Google reviews. As the proud owner of Groover Roofing and Siding, I, Brian Groover, will provide the true and correct events as they occurred. Ms. Meredith is referring to a contract that she cancelled over a year ago. The contract states “You, the signee, may cancel this transaction at any time prior to midnight of the third business day after the date of this transaction.” “Acceptance of this proposal authorizes Groover Roofing and Siding Inc. to do the work specified. Payment will be made as outlined above. Once accepted by customer, this proposal shall become a binding agreement.” The contract does not specify an anticipated completion date. Our projects are completed in the order in which they are received. Last year was one of the busiest years in the construction industry in our area. Ms. Meredith did not inform us of any active leaks, in which case we could have provided a temporary dry-in until it was her turn on the schedule. Because Ms. Meredith lives in the historic district of her city, all contracts must go to the design review board. The date of this meeting, which is set by the city, was almost a month after she signed her contract. We have no control over that. The manufacturer of her material suffered a lightning strike at the manufacturing plant, which destroyed all equipment and materials. This affected all existing and future orders, and significantly increased the lead time of all deliveries. Unfortunately, this slowed down all jobs on our schedule. When Ms. Meredith called the office in February 2024 (for the first time), I explained these scheduling delays, but told her that her material had come in, and we would schedule her as the next project, in about a week. She refused and said this was unacceptable. To her, there was no solution except cancelling her contract. If she thought I was condescending, perhaps that was due to her threats of defamation and slander, after

Groover tried to intimidate my wife with a DEFAMATION LAWSUIT. This is my opinion and personal experience: These people were not honest with us and they don’t like being held accountable. They put certain things in the contract to protect themselves but tell you other things verbally thinking they won’t be held to it. I’d tell you to get EVERYTHING THEY SAY in writing but don’t waste your money or time. You can find QUALITY in another locally owned company. When we gave Groover thousands and thousands of dollars deposit, they cashed our check and the salesman made promises, then excuses, and spun stories at every turn. After 4 months waiting for a job we were told (verbally) would be 4 weeks, we asked for our money back. So they spun another story and kept a big chunk of our money - More money than our house payment. We chalked it up as a bad decision on our part, we should have read the reviews here - we had no idea this company was run by an owner so petty and unscrupulous that he would try to pull us into court, threatening to sue after my wife wrote her Google review about our experience. This guy tried to intimidate my wife with a DEFAMATION LAWSUIT for telling our story. Here’s what his attorney’s letter said: “Mr. Groover apologizes that this dispute has arisen between you and his company. He works hard to protect the company's reputation. While he understands that you may be angry, he is likewise angry with your review. After due deliberation, he has instructed me to send this letter to you. Setting aside his anger and in lieu of litigation, he proposes that you withdraw your review/post and I will not file suit. I will wait seven days to see if your review/post is withdrawn and the matter will be closed. If not, it will leave Mr. Groover no other recourse than to file suit.” I imagine he’s done this before and the people caved and that’s why they still get customers from a Google search. Spend your money somewhere else. IN MY OPINION, this company is l

Had them estimate repair of chimney and flashing. Quoted $500 less than I paid for the whole roof. HIGH!

Had a leak, they come out said I needed whole new roof. Called another company, they found and repaired the leak, without replacing the entire roof. Beware of this company they will try to rip you off. Also get a second opinion especially when using Groover as one of your estimates

Called them to address a leak on a small canopy roof over a bay window. Instead of dealing with that they replaced a vent pipe boot on the main roof, claiming that would fix it. They charged me $575! That’s right, can you believe that? $575 for a boot. The roof still leaks. This is not professional work. Advice to Groover: Do a thorough job at identifying the actual issue that you are called to a client’s house for, before you start ripping people off with overpriced parts. It’s called a HOSE! Use one to get some water to the problem area so that you are not guessing where a leak is, at the expense of the clients. NO EXCUSES!

Groover quoted me for a gutter job. The job was simple and would have taken less then a hour. Groover said the job would cost 850.00. I called and got the cost of materials from a seemless gutter delivery company. The cost of materials was 190.00 delivery included. I then called Groover asking why such a high installation price? Groover then said it was such a small job that they wanted to make it well worth there time. Luckily, I did some research on cost of installation and cost of materials or else I would have been ripped off roughly 400.00. Do your homework before buying from Groover. The quote Groover gave me was insulting enough and now Groover insults me further by responding to my honest review of how things happened saying I make assumptions when the only assumption made was by Groover assuming that i'm not the home owner. This will NEVER be a case of I should have had Groover do the job.

    Reply from the business

Just another case of “I should have just had Groover do the job, and it would have been done right and warrantied”. You cannot buy our heavy gauge gutter system and accessories for that price. We only use heavy gauge seamless spouting and heavy-duty hangers for ice buildup. Had the homeowner been home to meet our representative at the time that was set up, they would have been properly informed of the complete system and cost breakdown, and not going by assumption only. As always, ONLY When Quality Counts

From scheduling a call for a quote to having our dream porch vision come to life once again Groover did an amazing job with our front porch. Completely transformed our front of the house! Second time we have gone with groover for a house project and they never disappoint! Will always pick them! Great communication, the workers are so polite and patient! You won’t even know a job is being done with how well they clean up after as well!

Had groover do the roof on my house and garage. From start to finish, the process was fast, smooth and zero issues! They did an awesome job and even went above and beyond with protecting the landscaping that I have from the front and wraps around to the side of my house! Not a single branch was broken on the multiple Japanese maples that I have around my house! Skip ahead a year and a half or so ( I'm horrible with time frames) and Had a very minor issue with a small spot on my house roof, called in just to see if someone could check it out not expecting it to be fixed then and there, and wouldn't you know, they showed up in no time and not only checked it out but fixed it with zero issue. I can't recommend Groover enough for anyone looking for a new roof!

Groover sent someone out to assess what we needed done after our roof sustained damage this past winter due to ice damming. We were very satisfied with them being able to diagnose what we needed and to come up with an estimate that took care of our needs. Groover Roofing & Siding did a very thorough, professional job and their technicians were friendly and knowledgeable. I’d recommend them to my friends, family and anyone who needs quality roofing done. We were very pleased with their work.

We contracted with Groover Roofing to replace our shingle roof, repair or replace a metal roof over a bay window, and vinyl side the dormers on the front of our Cape Cod style home in Boardman, Ohio. We selected GR because that have a solid reputation in the community and their quote / proposal was very thorough and detailed exactly what their team would do. Their teams did an excellent job and exceeded our expectations for workmanship. The finished work looked great, and we believe contributed greatly to us receiving multiple offers on our home within three days of listing. I am sure there are fine roofing companies that you could choose from, but if you want a contractor that pays attention to every detail of the project from start to finish, then you want Groover Roofing.

We have had Groover do three different jobs for us over the years. This last job being a chimney replacement. The quality of work was excellent as were our previous experiences . The crews are always professional and polite and they do a great job of cleaning up upon completion of the work. A huge plus is there is someone who actually answers the phone there and that person is always polite and helpful. We would recommend the company without hesitation.

If you want the best quality in the area, go with Groover. We had our roof & gutters done with them in 2017 and we just had our chimney fixed with them. Our roof turned out great and has held up just fine over the last 9 years. Our chimney looks brand new and we couldn't be happier. The crew were friendly and professional. They even came back to address a small area that needed attention inside of the fireplace. You may pay a little more with Groover, but their work is top notch, they warranty all of their work, and they always make sure the customer is happy. I highly recommend Groover. They're simply the best in the area and they truly care about their work and the customer.

We recently had an old furnace chimney removed. We chose Groover because they had repaired our primary chimney and a brick window well a few months earlier. Their work is excellent. The results are clean, no evidence that they were here, and the jobs were messy. The earlier job was significantly more than the most recent, but the price was also reasonable and fair, and their work excellent. Our sales person was Zack, and the job was done to the exact same specifications that he wrote up and we agreed to. John Warren
