Hi Eric - I'm very sorry to hear this. Could you forward me whatever email you received? We haven't engaged in an email campaign for a couple of years, so I'd like to identify who might be going rogue. As you said - we certainly do not want anyone from our team violating FTC rules. You can send it to marketing@goldenspikeroofing.com. Many thanks in advance.

In 2017 had hail damage to roof. Golden Spike Roofing (GSR) replaced our roof at that time. My friend/coworker also had their roof replace - different contractor and told me that they had to get their roof redone because of a Manufacture defect with the shingles. I attempted 2 or 3 times to contact GSR to have them check our shingles, unable to make contact with Robert "Smitty" the contractor with GSR. Earlier this year 2025 Todd M with GSR reached out to me to ask if it was ok to check roof as the manufacture of the shingles had a recall. Todd checked roof, shingles were bad asked if he could file a claim with the Manufacture on our behalf. I gave the ok. A Rep from the manufacture reached out to me they came out, inspected roof and agreed the shingles were defective. After some time the Manufacture sent me an email stating they would pay so much $ for the labor of replacing the shingles and in addition pay for the material need to redo the roof as long as it was "Their" brand. I was about to forward the email to Todd, but had a "gut" check something didn't sit right. I sent Todd a text message letting him know that the manufacture was going to pay on the claim, but that my husband and I had some questions and wanted to meet with him. Todd came over that evening I handed him a printout of the email and settlement letter from the manufacture, but I had blacked out the amount that they were paying for labor. Todd asked why I had blacked out the amount and that he could not give me an estimate without that amount. At that point we decided to get other estimates from other contractors. We had 3 contractors give us estimates all of whom we provided the email information with the amount blacked out and they had no concerns with that. October 2025 the contractor we chose started work on our roof and immediately they came across an issue with the previous work that had been done. Per International Residential Roofing (IRR) Code R905.2.1 sheathing requirem

Loraine states in her complaint that Golden Spike Roofing should have installed new OSB sheathing in 2017 when the roof was replaced due to hail damage. She says the code guideline requires a solidly sheathed roof deck and that new decking should have been installed and paid for by Allstate in 2017. In her letter to GSR from November 3rd of this year she asked us to pay $7466.62, which was the entire amount Bronco Roofing had charged her to replace the roof in October of this year. Bronco Roofing billed her $2,400 for new OSB sheathing and $1,400 to install the OSB sheets over the plank decking, which leaves $3666.62 to replace the shingles. The shingle manufacturer gave Loraine a check for an undisclosed amount to cover the labor for the shingles to be replaced. So GSR is not only being asked to pay for the new OSB sheathing to be purchased and installed, but also to pay for the shingle replacement which was already paid for by the Malarkey Corporation. Loraine is seeking to profit from this situation by billing GSR for work that was paid for by the manufacturer. We have responded to her in writing on November 6th that we respectfully decline to pay her entire bill, or to pay for the structural upgrade of new OSB sheathing. This is our stance on the matter. Plank decking is considered a solid deck as long as the boards do not have consistent gaps greater than 1/2 inch, or the boards are warping, splitting or water damaged, these guidelines are per the residential building code. GSR did not find conditions that would have warranted installing new OSB sheathing over the plank deck in 2017. Had we found consistent gaps or damage to the roof deck we would have asked the insurer (Allstate) if there was a code upgrade policy in effect to cover the additional costs of adding OSB boards over the plank decking. If no code upgrade funds were available from Allstate the owner would have covered any additional costs for new sheathing. Those conditions were not present thus n

I had a very stressful experience with Golden Spike Roofing and its owner, Michael McCarthy (aka Spike). I had to supervise the roof installation myself because nobody was there to oversee the installers and it was ongoing chaos. The initial crew seemed incompetent, inexperienced and lazy. It took them the entire day just to tear off the old roof, and then it rained hard that night. There were continued arguments between workers making it a very uncomfortable scene. They tried to install waterproof underlayment over hundreds of loose nails which could have punctured the underlayment causing the roof to leak. They left the materials stacked in my driveway all week. My neighbors were even concerned and asked if I was doing the roof myself. They sealed 1/3 of the ridge-vent closed with underlayment which could have caused the roof to overheat destroying the new shingles. They installed the roof over a bathroom vent, and over a hole they never boarded up, so someone could have gone right through the roof into the attic! When they finished and said everything looked great, I inspected the roof myself and saw squashed roof shingles and footprints imbedded in shingles all over the roof. The new roof was so bad it was declared totaled and had to be replaced! The crew was so bad, they had to get another crew for the second roof. When tearing off the roof again, that's when I saw all the covered installation defects noted above. When they finished the second roof they had to replace several shingles so they just installed new shingles right over the existing ones which left unsightly bumps. It took so long to get both roofs done their tarps burned up my lawn. This roof was to be installed a year prior but they kept delaying for months, and when they finally scheduled delivery, I waited all morning but they never arrived. Then they called saying the materials were not even in Colorado. The invoice came with an extra $500 charge. When speaking with Spike about what happen

The complainant did not leave his full name but judging by the nature of his complaint I have narrowed the field and I am operating on an assumption that he is Joseph Cangro. We first installed a roof for Mr. Cangro in June of 2023. During the installation it was noticed that there were different shades of color in the shingles. It turned out that the supply house had mixed dye lots of shingles that were delivered to the job site. On my instruction the roofers finished the roof so the home would not be left incomplete until the color issue could be resolved. Shingles were in short supply due to high demand so replacement material was not readily available. Mr. Cangro wanted to move forward so it was decided to switch material manufacturer for the replacement roof and that roof was installed and inspected by the city. Joe had some legitimate complaints about some unfinished details or cosmetic issues I don’t recall what exactly but we did send our repair crew out to address all issues with the owner. Mr. Cangro’s original estimate for replacement of his roof due to hail damage was $15,564.51. The invoice amount collected was $15,564.51 as per the original contract there is no additional $500 paid to Golden Spike. In my phone calls with Mr. Cangro we both became somewhat heated as he accused me of trying to rip him off without any evidence to back it up. He insisted on a 50 year warranty I told him the shingle manufacturer provided a limited lifetime warranty and my project manager had already requested the material limited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer and was later sent to Mr. Cangro. After much back and forth about warranties and wanting to be reimbursed for materials he didn’t pay for. I explained his bid was based on the project pricing not a per bundle price. I also pointed out that we generally order fairly tight but also want to ensure our crews will have adequate material on hand to complete each job. In this case there were some materials that were

If working with insurance claims, do not use this company. They will drag you along for months before providing the needed paperwork showing job completion. Very 'scammy' the way they 'run the numbers'. I do not recommend this company for roofing.

I was quoted for a gutter repair in October and it’s now February and the job hasn’t been completed 100%. They have been out 2 times to repair leaks and we have a section still leaking. Golden Spike was also expecting me to communicate with their 3rd party gutter company each time the repairs failed. I hired Golden Spike not the 3rd party vender, however I was expected to manage all the repair work. The customer service, work, and communication with Golden Spike was very disappointing and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone looking for gutter work/repair.

Golden Spike comes through every time! I had a great experience with their roofing team years ago, so I called them again for vinyl siding damage. Jon took the hassle out of the insurance claim by working with the adjuster to get full coverage. Communication was clear from start to finish, and the final work looks fantastic. Highly recommend!

I just recently had them do a claim for hail damage on my roof. Brandon was an excellent ambassador for the company and fought the insurance company to get the items approved. I’m glad I went with them and I’m glad that Brandon was the project manager. The team started the day before Thanksgiving and almost had everything done but couldn’t quite beat the light so they came out and finished the next day ON THANKSGIVING. These guys really put customer service first and did a great job! They even upgraded the shingles to make the house more resilient to the damage sustained from hail and wind. Do yourself a favor and go with these guys.

Golden Spike Roofing replaced an irreparably clogged dryer vent on our steep roof. This was a small job that they were willing to do. The workmen were very professional, installed the new vent exactly as needed, and were nice people to deal with.

Golden Spike Roofing replaced our roof in 2017. They alerted us about a potential warrenty issue with the shingles and came out to inspect. We turned in a claim to the manufacturer and they stood behind their warrenty and we received a new roof. Had GSR not been on the ball we would of had no idea. GSR replaced our roof last week and did an excellent job. Workers were courteous and took care to protect our Christmas decorations and outdoor furniture. They also did a good job cleaning up. I will use them again!

Golden Spike recently replaced my hail damaged roof, and I'm very happy with the job they did. The new roof looks waaay better than my old one. Doug was great throughout the process and was on top of everything. Never was I waiting on him for anything, he was always waiting on me (sorry Doug). He also dealt with insurance and helped me make sense of all the piecemeal stuff insurance was sending my way. The most painful part of the process was the fact that I had to find and dig my old checkbook out of a dusty box.
