I think Greg has the wrong company here. We are in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada. We don’t have you as a customer so we’re very confused. Please let us know if we can be of any help solving your problems with your existing contractor.

We contracted with GBS through Home Depot to replace our roof. When their estimator and installer came to the site I made them aware of where we had ice dams which resulted in one or two leaks in twelve years. Both the estimator and installers guaranteed their work would resolve any issues. In the five years since we have had multiple leaks in different places causing damage to beams, walls and flooring. Despite the fact Home Depot and GBS have been on site multiple times and recommended heating cable we had worse leaks than ever last winter. Home Depot's latest response is our warranty expired in May of 2020. They did not take into account we are in a pandemic and were late reporting our latest issues in a long string of unresolved ones since we contrated with GBS and Home Depot. Once we reported the issues we have never stated we were satisfied since we continued to have major leaks. My experience with both Home Depot and GBS has been terrible. They seem to blame me for the fact I have leaks in my roof after spending over $20,000 with them. They were well aware of the ice dam issue before they agreed to and guaranteed their work.

David needs to make changes to the way his fireplace is setup in his 3 season home that he likes to attempt to use 2 or 3 times / winter. His insulation and ventilation and air flow does not work properly. He does not want to make our recommended changes and also did not use our recommended heating cable (not Home Depot brand). You can only imagine what running a fireplace in a cottage with multiple tons of snow on a roof that is not ventilated properly will do. We are also no longer working with Home Depot. Additionally David or someone helping David took a hatchet to his roof - we would imagine to chop at the ice building up - and he blamed the marks and leaks in the roof on us!

(** please note that the entire response from the owner on Sept 11/19 is a complete lie. He was paid in full, I have proof, no changes, no police.**) I was made to feel like I was in good hands and could trust them when a reno was done for me in 2015. Feel like a fool now, because I've since had to have the roof they did removed and completely replaced at my own expense after it leaked profusely and incessantly causing extensive damage. On top of that they didn't finish the rest of the job and I'm STILL paying to do things they were supposed to do, but didn't do, and re-doing things that they didn't do properly. I was also told that all inspections had been done, when they hadn't. They took my money in expert fashion tho!

Sorry folks! this woman decided that she wanted to change what was already done we told her that the cost was going to be more she threw a tantrum told us to get off of her property we had to call the police to get our equipment back! we tried to accommodate her she was not willing to negotiate. plus she never paid a penny was a total loss

They arrived for the appointment, but didn't like the look of our house or something, so they left without getting out of the vehicle. We know the house needs work. It's why we called for the appointment. If they thought we were poor based on the house, they're just flat out wrong and they've missed out on a lot of business. Very lackadaisical way to do business. . .or not do business.

Way overpriced, we had three quotes done on the roof... they are almost double in cost of the other two quotes. It pays to shop around people.

    Reply from the business

now that home depot is no longer in the roofing siding and roofing business they took a 20% commission that is why it was over priced

Way overpriced, check other contractors in the area before using them.

Mike is by far the most unprofessional contractor that I have ever had to deal with, and the only reason why I was stuck with him was because they are a sub contractor to Home Depot. We hired HD to do the exterior of our house. We were under the impression that we only deal with HD and not the sub; from the time the order goes into the queue to the time payment is required. The work performed by GBS was very mediocre. Caulking looked like it was done by a 2 year old, the workers are extremely messy and leave there garbage everywhere! (ie bags of potatoe chips in between trees, tiny pieces of metal on front porch area, boxes on front lawn) Had to call the sales guy from HD and ask if this is what is to be expected from their sub contractor, because I have had other subs doing various other jobs in my house in the last 3 years and I have never been so disgusted until GBS came along. But I guess that explains why Mike's attitude is disgusting as well! As explained before, it was our understanding that we pay HD directly. After we signed the waiver stating the job was completed by GBS (waiver was only signed after they had to come to the house again and repair some of the shotty work that was done) Mike took it upon himself to charge my credit card for the full amount owing as the sales person from HD had been on vacation and had not processed my payment. Well, little did Mike know that I had indicated that there would be 2 methods of payment and so went he went to use the only one method that he had on file, it obviously did not go through. So Mike calls me up demands that I give him the other method of payment as he is waiting for his payment from HD. I of course told him that I had not seen my final bill and do not know what the final total is from HD and second of all I pay them not GBS. To quote Mike "You have all of the receipts you should be able to add, if you know how to add, and come up with a total. We bent over backwards for you trying to get those repairs

These people are not informed Home depot sends all sales through Peaks installations, we work through peaks All contracts are to be verified before we start Credit card in place, and pre-authorised, we did not confirm that they were credit worthy until the end of the job. We realised that we were exposed to a financial loss so we asked for a credit card they said that they would only deal with Home Depot we represent them DO you understand, they could not get it through their tiny little heads!! Not to intelligent Our sales man Finally got the info and the bill was paid after being completed for months. The General Contractor a landscaper on the site did not know what he was looking at he made all kinds of wrong comments, we wasted so much time with these people it was incredible, going back and forth wrong information was a constant from the landscape contractor. the job was impeccable at the end I don't get how ungrateful people can be!!

Had a bathroom tiled, which cost $5000 just for labour. The job took 5 months to complete. The tile job was supposed to be done before christmas as I had a mobility challenged guest coming for a month. The tile wasnt done due to numerous calls to get the guy doing the job to show up and come consistantly. The tile guy showed up at 10:30 and would be gone by 3 with numerous smoke breaks in between. At $65 per hr plus the labourer who had no idea how to cut tile or do much other than talk to the tile guy, both parties were charged at $65 per hour. I was asked to pay the bill before christmas when the job wasnt done, I called the owner and requested he come and look at the job as it wasnt complete and far from satisfactory. The owner finally showed up and agreed the job wasnt done or done well and we negotiated the job down to $5000 and the job would be fixed by another employee who was better at no extra cost The employee was away for awhile so I waited for two weeks and he would come and complete the job of which he did. I was told I had a one year warranty on the job which was finished at the end of feb early march. I had 24 tiles that were loose that had to be replaced. I had 3/4" gaps left for grout and holes around the fixtures as he mis judged the space need for the hole I supplied all the material so I had to get extra to finish the job, most tiles came up and were able to be laid again as they had no cement on them except a small piece the size of a quater. I recently called GBS again as I had two of the tiles loose that needed fixing and was told he wasnt coming back here ever again and suggested I call someone to fix the tile. The bathroom was 8ft x12ft and the tile was only on the shower and floor. Terrible service, aweful job the reason for the discount was for a poor job and a shower seat that wasnt even built straight by gbs. At the price charged and the headache to get the job complete and the tiles still coming loose I can only rate as 1 star as

I felt sorry for her!! She called 20 times to please come and do this bathroom. Finally I said ok. Big problem, she had fixtures in. Then Sally was never home. We could only work only when she was there. She was studying the work so that she would get lessons on how to do it herself. We spent weeks traveling back and forth in the winter to get this job done. When we explained that she had layer upon layer of plywood and planks that had to be removed and that would mean the remove of her fixtures as well we couldn't do it in her budget. So the choices were to leave the plywood down which would cause popping in the future or to leave the job unfinished. We did our best with caveats. We should not have taken on the job. We told her that her tiles would continue to pop because of the old material not being removed yet she did not want to spend the additional money to remove the old material.

GBS is terrific! Trying to find a contractor, let alone a good one, is tough in Muskoka. I had called several contractors looking for someone to repair my roof. I got a call back from GBS. I explained the situation, Mike came out and took a look, sent a quote which I accepted and a week later the workmen arrived and the job was done. I am so glad I contacted GBS! Mike is knowledgeable and knew just what needed to be done! The crew was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, concerned about my garden and when they left, the area was so clean. I received several quotes and chose GBS because of Mike. He was so honest and knowledgeable and straightforward about the job. What he said they would do, they did and more! I'm glad that I called GBS and will have no issues contacting them again.

Thank you to the entire GBS team. This has been a difficult winter season for many properties in the area, but the GBS crew has calmly assisted with many difficult snow related tasks at sites we manage and assisted in averting several 'snow-tastrophes'. Thank you!

GBS did a good job on the roof of our new build and so I contacted them to do the eves troughs. They did an nIce job once they finally came. Many of the delays were weather related and the staff were great to deal with. Three years later, all of the eves corners were leaking so I contacted them for a repair. I spent 6 months calling, and leaving messsages. After about 7 months, they came for an inspection. I tried to pin them down on a date for the repair. Rob, the contact I had, stopped taking my calls. At month 8 I asked them to cancel my request. No one contacted me to ask why or to apologize for the poor service. We were left with dealing with a more responsive company and with another bill which should, frankly, have been the responsibility of GBS. The caulking used in the eves was insufficient to stand the test of time. I would not recommend this company nor would I use them again.

GBS roofing replaced the roof on our cottage, bunkie and gazebo. The job that was done was outstanding and once completed the area was left immaculate. Even though our property is on an island and water access the the job was done on schedule and completed in less than 2 days. Our thanks to Justin, Wayne and his outstanding crew.

I have used Mike's services twice. The latest was a large job requiring new windows, siding, doors and lots of repair from leaks as well as a winter freeze-up. Mike and his team were wonderful in completing this project in a timely manner and he kept us informed the whole way through. The place looks terrific and has garnered many compliments. My hat is off to Mike Vetesse and his team. Ian W. Gravenhurst

Right from the moment we contacted GBS for a quote on our roof replacement thru to the work being done and to completion, Rod and his crew were informative, professional, and really wonderful to work with. The job was not an easy one to start with as the roof was high up with a very steep pitch. Added to the challenges of dealing with this they also had to put up with a land dispute. I can not say enough about how professional they all were. The roof looks absolutely amazing - better than we hoped. Anyone seeking a decent hard working company can not go wrong with GBS. Thank you for everything.

GBS has provided services that have exceeded our expectations! From consulting and installing a commercial roof on budget in a timely manner to responding to emergencies and protecting our building interests. I highly recommend GBS Contracting as the “go to-building service”company.

We utilized GBS Contracting with Rod Thompson’s expertise after dealing with last winter’s ice damming at our little loft townhome. Rod suggested some ‘Heat Line’ roofing cables for us a few other neighbours, and I can now tell you that they are working as he said they would! Rod’s crew was out before the snow started flying late last fall and were professional and respectful in their dealings with us. The picture tells the story (obviously we’re the unit one the left) , very pleased with the service.
