Gary lacks knowledge on the most basic principles of roofing, keeping water out! Gary has shown his incompetence and lack of knowledge on the most basic roof flashing details. This company was hired to inspect a metal roof system on a house we were purchasing. After reviewing GFR's report it became apparent that the field forman had zero knowledge on industry standard flashing details and said the roof just needed a $300.00 and change service call! Upon review of the photos Gary's team took as well as the photos our home inspector took it was apparent the roof was installed improperly based on my expertise in installing standing seam roofs in my home state. I contacted Gary the owner and expressed my concerns. He said he would go out the next morning to reinspect. After reinspection Gary said he stood by his $300.00 and change caulk maintenance repair. I than sent a metal roof installer, "lic contractor" to reinspect the roof and flashing details after Gary Gas lit me. The second roofing contractor confirmed my suspicion of a poorly installed metal roof with faulty flashing installation. Bottom line the roof is trash. Gary and team could have cost us a lot of money on their lack of knowledge and I'm sure he has had his hand in a few similar stories based on reading his reviews. I noticed parallel stories and experiences. I would steer clear on this alone. Also as i mentioned, I install metal roofs in my home state hence my ability to call baloney on the report with poor images. what he does is not give you a realistic report on status of the roof, which is the whole reason one would hire him for his services.Seems to sell a maintenance protocol, than I would imagine you get hit later with the reality of the roof you thought was in good condition based on his inspection. Please take time to review his reviews and read his response in regards to similar stories. We had a escrow inspection deadline and he promised me he'd call me back than proceeded to ghost me the res

At anytime, please call Gary at 949-290-4856 for the truth about this mental midget. With over 100,000 inspections performed, over 45 years in business without advertising and never a mark on our license, we stand by our reports! FYI, this nut is not even a client of ours

Around 2:30 PM on April 29, 2026, in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688, one of this company’s trucks was driving extremely fast and behaving very unsafely. The driver cut off multiple cars and created a dangerous situation on the road. This …

We take feedback seriously and will address this internally. That said, this concern is unrelated to the quality of our workmanship or services. It would have been more appropriate to contact us directly so we could address the issue promptly rather than posting a public review.

If you enjoy chaos, confusion, and cryptic communication, Gary Fox Roofing might be the company for you. I called them for a simple roof inspection after buying my new home in Dana Point. What followed was one of the strangest customer experiences I’ve ever had. First, I received abrupt, borderline rude messages from Gary himself — one saying “Text me the address”… followed by another saying he never schedules anything by text and that everything must be done via email (with very specific formatting instructions, of course). I followed his eccentric process exactly. Then — silence. For months. Out of nowhere, about three months later, my Ring camera caught a random guy showing up at my house while I was at work. He said he was “from Gary Fox Roofing” and was there to patch something. I had zero record of any job being scheduled or even approved, but told him to go ahead since he was already there. Ten minutes later, he was gone. Thirty minutes after that, I get an invoice for $100... plus an extra $155 “photo charge” (yes, you read that right — more for the photo than the repair). When I asked for proof of what was actually done, I was told “liability.” That was the explanation. No photos. No report. Just a bill and a bizarre justification. Between the manic communication style, surprise visits, and nonsensical billing, this whole experience felt more like performance art than professional service. Would highly recommend steering clear of this company and its multiple personalities.

I had several leaks within the year of inspection. It takes weeks to get them back to check out your roof. I recommend using someone else.

I strongly recommend avoiding this company. I had a professional roof inspection done during our home purchase, and some roof repairs were identified. Gary ended up being hired by the sellers for these roof repairs, but not even a month …

DO NOT USE! Like others, Gary Fox was recommended by my real estate agent. He was contracted to inspect our roof. He said the roof was in good condition and told us there was a few things to fix which he supposedly repaired. The roof leaked 2 months after buying with first rain and one of the leaks came from a skylight he supposedly repaired. The contract said he worked on 3 skylights but only repaired 1 and was suppose to increase the width of the valleys which again he did not do. This was at my son's home. I was a Fire Captain for 34 years and worked in construction before that so I have been on 100's of roofs and understand what should have been done. Unfortunately I was out of town for his bid and his repairs. I personally got on the roof and have had 2 additional roofers come look at the roof and both said not only did he do shoddy work but literally did not do work he was paid for in contract. Will be suing him in small claims court. AVOID at all costs!!!

Im not a big review person but over the past two years Garys crew has taken care of my very flat roof in a professional manner. Gary was referred to me from a local realtor and I have been happy with his services and pricing the entire time.

Long wait and inconsistent and confusing quotations. Numerous follow-up visits were required to address unfinished tasks. The overall experience has been incredibly time-consuming and stressful. Won't recommend them.

They do good work for a fair price but the girls in the office make it very hard to schedule. I understand that it has been a busy year but that doesn't excuse being left hanging for weeks on end without a response and then a rude response when you follow up to schedule again.

Nothing short of the best in OC. If you want honesty, integrity and high quality work you seriously do not need to look further. You found the best in Gary Fox Roofing.

These guys are super honest. If your roof can be repaired or patched they aren’t going to try and sell you on re-roofing the entire house.

I recently purchased a property in area susceptible to rain and snow in the city of Crestline that had roof damage and had been repaired by Gary Fox Roofing prior to closing escrow. I was told the issue was fixed and even given receipts showing the repairs that were made by Gary Fox Roofing. But after the first raini, it was obvious via water damage from the cieling under those exact same areas supposedly repaired, that the area was not appropriately fixed. After reaching out to the company, I was repeatedly told that my issue was "high on Gary's radar". I was patient in waiting, but after time passed and being told this repeatedly, noone ever came...not to assess the issue let alone fix it, resulting in a build up of water damage inside my new home when it rained again a week ago. It is obvious that Gary Fox Roofing is just another contractor that goes AWOL once they are paid in full if there are any issues. Beware to anyone thinking about using them and your best bet is to find a different roofer. If anything changes, I will happily update this...but don't hold your breath.

They might be affordable, but their work is subpar. First, they carelessly put nails through the ceiling of my patio. They came back to fix that. But then, I noticed the ceiling in my living room directly beneath where they completed a leak repair was damaged. Their excuse: the ground must have shifted causing the damage. So, The rest of my 75 year old ceiling is fine — but the exact spot beneath their repair, the damage, that has to be from my whole house shifting? That’s BS. Poor workmanship, poor customer service, and failure to own their mistakes. Look for a different roofer.

Gary and crew did an excellent job on my roof repair. Squeezed me in on his busy schedule in time for me to close escrow on the sale of my home. Liked the fact all his work is guaranteed.
