I wouldn’t recommend these people to a dog. Never get back to you when called. Was told job would be completed 2 weeks after check cleared. Not professional at all. Called them and they told us material was on back order until May. Don’t hire these guys

    Reply from the business

We have never had a contract with anyone by this name , I am not sure who you are or what this review is about . Unfortunately there are materials on back order now due to raw material and manpower shortages , EPDM (rubber) materials are an example as have had Poly ISO on back order since this past April and still being told maybe July . That being said , I have never had any contracts or work with this person whom left this review .

I hired this company 4 months ago to install three skylights which at the time one was leaking I waited 3 months with all kinds of excuses why they had not been installed yet and all three started leaking and still no skylights which has …

I am really not sure , on how you have come about to this , as the skylights were custom made , special order skylights , ordered from ABC Supply , from Velux skylight company. 4 months is stretching it as was end of May for initial contract and mid august when all of this started, After re measure as we always do before ordering, and sizes not being standard, we then came back and asked you to allow us to measure the exact skylight openings and shafts in your ceiling, and after contacting Velux , they quoted us a price that kept us in the quoted price we gave you, we also informed you at that time that these were being custom made and would take 4-6 weeks to arrive at ABC. At that time everything was fine and it had been approx 3/4 weeks due to work schedule as well as trying to replace plastic , incorrectly installed skylights , with quality ones that you had requested. At about the 5th week after skylights were ordered , I was informed of all kinds of derogatory things being said on facebook and google about my company as well as me personally. Completely out of the blue, this was by one of your daughters and yourself , for no good reason at all , and no warning. Then you called and said that you needed a roof , because somebody else had told you that installing the skylights wouldnt work without doing the roof at same time. ( we had told you that a new roof was best option ) Mike then came out and went over roof options with you and you and him had settled on price, you set up to sign and choose color with Mike on Friday at 5:30 PM At approx 2/3 PM , you called into shop and started saying that we were trying to rip you off, and all of this. Said that you didnt want a roof , just your skylights and your other daughter spoke with my secretary and apologized and said that all of these things were getting you to thinking that you were going to be ripped off and that somehow you were convinced that you couldnt install skylights without replacing roof . She agreed

Horrible, they take advantage of seniors and take your money and never contact you back. Stay away from them

    Reply from the business

I have no idea who you are, as we have never had any business dealings with you, so can only assume related to customer having current issues with. Really wish that people would completely READ contract, especially when everything is right where is signed and dated, that spells out that this customer is actually in BREACH of contract at moment , and I will just leave that rest here until this is settled properly with none of these accusations and defamation . And that special order materials take time to be made and delivered.

My experience with CJ Roofing was not a good one. I have a "flat" roof over my porch that started to show signs of a leak, so I thought maybe getting the roof rubberized would be a good idea. I contacted a couple roofers to get quotes and C&J was one of them. This was late July 2018. The first roofer said he would not be able to get to it until April of 2019, but C&J said they would do their best to get it done before the winter. The quote came in recommending an acrylic ceramic spray roof and after researching, I thought it sounded like a good option and I liked the cost. The quote seemed professional and at the time I didn't see any negative reviews and only a couple positive reviews. I signed the contract and paid for half the job, $875. This was on Aug 6, 2018. Later, I would learn that the review from Jim Verdier and the one from Lori that were 5 star reviews were from the owner and secretary. Needless to say, even with many phone calls, the job never got started in 2018. Winter came and went and I started pushing to get the job done again in the spring. The excuse was always that they needed about 5 days without rain to do the job and we were having lots of rain. At first, I thought it seemed reasonable, but after some time I started to question it and then called other roofers. Other roofers I talked to said there's no excuse for taking so long and that they should have been able to break the job up and in the end only needed a day or two of dry weather here and there. I shared this information, but still never got a scheduled date and my roof was now leaking pretty good. In July of 2019, I decided to try to cancel the job and get my money back. This was a labored procedure and in the end, I got $700 back and they kept $175 for a cancellation and restocking of material fee. Normally, if I was cancelling within a few months, I would accept this, but after about a year of sitting on my money, never once scheduling any work to my roof and the damage I incurred t

A few weeks ago I called to see if someone could come and replace a single shingle that blew off during a wind storm. Without coming out to look, I was told it would be a minimum of $350 for them to come out. (For a single shingle) Well, that was enough for me to get on the ladder and fix it myself in under 15 minutes. That's not very good customer relations. My roof is 19 years old. I won't be calling C&J Roofing for an estimate when it comes time to put on a new roof on this house! Re: Reply As long as we "are being clear" I was told $350 minimum. Nothing was ever said about it could be less depending on the job. Being told there was a minimum implies it could be more. I don't hold it against anyone for making a profit. It took 15 minutes, 4 nails and a partial tube of roof cement, so maybe having a minimum one size fits all isn't a good practice.

    Reply from the business

Im sorry that you feel that way , and just to be clear , we let everybody know , upfront ,that we will have to charge a $250-350 minimum charge , which is a service charge and includes repair time, so that they are not blindsided when we invoice them. Unfortunately , due to the weather and extreme amount of repairs and service work that we are trying to keep up with , between our scheduled jobs, we have to charge a minimum charge , whether its one shingle or a dozen , to cover our installers time to load tools and materials into truck , go to job and inspect damage , then do repairs that are needed. And , often times , if it is indeed just a single shingle needing replaced , the installer will call back to shop , at which point , we will reduce the price a little. But , it still takes the same amount of time to get installer ready and go to job , for one shingle or a bundle , and alot of times the customer only sees one but there are several other loose as well . Once again , Im sorry that you feel as if we were wrong for telling you upfront , that we charged a $250-350 minimum charge to do paperwork, load truck , send installer out to inspect damage and then to make repairs, but we are in business , to make a profit , and the time before we head out is paid time for my employees so who is to pay for that time?

Thank you for your kind words , and your warranty is in the final approval process, along with a few others. The manufacturers website had some changes , that I apparently did not realize because was dealing with certain situations . But I did check on your warranty yesterday and will email you a copy as soon as final approval by manufacturer is complete and the warranty is issued. This is the way we normally hear about our jobs , which is what we strive for ,and is why we purchased certain pieces of equipment that allows us to protect our customers landscaping and exterior equipment ,such as AC and central air units , decks , etc. along with the trash chutes and gutter protection guard,we have heard almost 100% positive feedback from our customers. Once again , very much appreciate your comments and if anything comes up ,or you have any questions about work done or warranty , please feel free to either call the office, email ,or contact me directly on my cell phone . Just please have patience with my return calls as I don’t always have my phone on me since they have become so expensive to replace when damaged while working . So,may be a day or two until I return your call , but I always return calls when messages are left requesting info about work or any other customer questions or concerns . If you haven’t provided us with an email address already. , please do so by sending email with name , address and work completed as well as when completed , to newtek10@comcast.net ,which is my direct email . Thank you once again ,Jim
