The critical reviews
The one and two-star reviews, first. These are what a star average hides, and they are the reason this page exists.
We hold no one or two-star review text for Valor Roofing Contractors. That is not the same as there being none — it means our capture did not reach any. The rating breakdown above is Google’s own count and is the number to go on.

old roof was leaking in two spots and the decking was soft in places. valor did a full tear off and replacement found more soft decking than expected and handled it. no leaks since, clean install

This was a long process for us because we kept putting it off. The roof was clearly past its life but every spring we said we would deal with it later. Finally got Valor out in July after a windstorm took some shingles off. The estimator did a walkthrough and was patient with my questions about underlayment, warranty, ventilation, all the stuff I had been researching online. We signed the contract about ten days later after comparing it to one other quote. They scheduled us for about three weeks out and stuck to that date. Install was completed in two working days with one short rain delay that pushed cleanup to a third morning. Communication during the project was consistent. Got a final invoice that matched the contract exactly. No su⁵rprises anywhere.

had a slow leak that kept showing up around the bay window every time it rained hard. tried a couple of small fixes over the years with another company and it never really stopped. finally decided enough was enough and got valor out to look …

Valor roofing our roof and it was a pretty easy experience overall the estimate appointment was useful because of the guy broke down each line item so we knew what was actually being charged. Install day was loud obviously but they move …

The estimator came out on a Saturday morning since that was the only time I could be home and didn't seem annoyed about it. He spent about an hour going over the existing roof, the attic, and what he was recommending. The quote came through …

Got our roof replaced by Valor and the thing that surprised me was how quick the turnaround was from the estimate to actually getting on the schedule. The crew was pretty no-nonsense on install day, just heads down working. What I appreciate most is the final number matched the quote exactly - we've been burned before by contractors padding the bill at the end. The roof itself looks really sharp, especially the front face of the house which is the most visible.

Ok so our roof was pretty old and we knew it was time. reached out to Valor and they got back to us within a few hours. the estimator came out and took a real look at everything, climbed up there and took photos and showed us what was going …

our house in Lake Forest is from the 80s and the roof was original which is kind of insane looking back. we knew it was bad but what finally pushed us was a leak that started in the dining room right above where we eat dinner every night. ceiling got a brown stain that kept growing. called valor and their guy came out and basically said yeah this is way past its life. full tear off revealed some water damaged decking under the area where the leak was, they replaced maybe three sheets of plywood there. new underlayment went on then the architectural shingles, they also put metal flashing in the valleys instead of just weaving the shingles which they said is better for water runoff. the whole job took two days and the dining room ceiling hasnt had a single drop since. i still look up at it during rain out of habit which my kids think is weird but you get paranoid after dealing with leaks for that long. next step is repainting that ceiling stain but thats on me

Our house in Highland Park needed a new roof bad and valor took care of it. the shingles they use have a nice dimensional look to them, not flat like the old ones. crew was big enough that they finished in one day which was nice cause I was dreading having a torn up roof overnight. Color chemo darker than the sample but I like it.

Water was pooling in the attic every time it rained at our house in Libertyville. Valor did a complete roof replacement and it's been dry through some pretty nasty weather since this fall

started looking for a roofing contractor after noticing some water stains on the ceiling in our guest bedroom. called around to a few places and these guys were the first to actually pick up the phone which is sad but true in this industry. they sent someone out the next morning, figured out exactly where the leak was coming from and had it fixed within a few days. the whole process from first call to completed roofing repair was maybe a week. pretty painless tbh.

called them for a quote, came out next day. price was good. scheduled for the following week. they showed up with a big truck and dumpster. stripped the roof by noon. had the new one on by end of day. walkthrough was quick. paid the invoice …

Wind damage is not randomly distributed, and its pattern is useful when prioritizing work. Uplift rather than downward pressure is the operative force. Pressure separates most severely at corners, along rake edges, over ridge caps, and across the two lowest courses above the gutter. The open field of a slope, though it represents most of the area, is comparatively secure. Properties here present two aggravating factors. Rooflines tend to be complex, with numerous hips, gables and dormers, so the proportion of edge to field is high. And any gable standing above the canopy, or a slope exposed toward the lake, receives wind that nothing has slowed. We suggest that roof repair near me in Lake Forest begin with those five zones, in that order, rather than with the roof as a whole.2 days ago
