Abilene and Corpus Christi are a good example of just how different roofing conditions can be across Texas. Abilene roofs tend to battle heat, hail, high winds, and dry weather. Corpus Christi roofs face intense Texas weather too, but salt from the Gulf adds a completely different type of wear. Salt can accumulate around metal fasteners, flashing, gutters, roof vents, and edge components. Moisture then activates that salt and speeds up corrosion. In severe coastal exposure, basic galvanized components can show visible rust far sooner than the same materials would in West Texas. That’s worth remembering for Abilene homeowners with vacation homes, rentals, or other property along the Gulf Coast. Coastal roofing isn’t simply about picking a durable shingle or metal panel. The fasteners, flashing, coatings, sealants, gutters, and other details need to be suited to salt exposure too.2 days agoLearn more
