  Reroof w new plywood and self adhere fire rated cap sheets. Installed wrong product. Worked through a resolution to keep on the wrong product. Installed incorrectly as 1/3 of roof had mole runs within two weeks. At least 5 call backs as the seems were not fully adhered in various places along seems of cap sheets before finishing the install. A very unfortunate experience on a low pitch rectangle 1100 square foot flat roof.

  Asked in Nov. '23 for a quote to repair flat roof. Daniel came to inspect roof and promised to submit a quote. Did not hear from him; so I called in Jan. '24 to ask again for a quote. I had to leave a voicemail because he didn't answer. Called again twice after that in Feb. '24 & Mar. '24. He didn't answer my calls or voicemail.

  These guys are crooks. They quoted me $1600, for what I thought was going to be a minor maintenance job on my home. $1600… I decided to get a second quote and another contractor quoted me $375!!!! For the same exact job. I am a san clemente local and am so disappointed this supposedly “local” company wants to try and rip off their neighbors.

  I needed a new roof on a 4-plex because of leaks. I wanted them to install a new roof so there would not be any more problems. I paid for upgraded materials and wanted them to take pictures so I would have before and after of the work done. It is a flat roof and hard to access so that is why I requested that, more so that I could see what was going on to get a better idea of why maybe it was leaking. I never got pictures after asking several times and the roof started leaking the next year, and the second year, and the third year, they came out several times but still was leaking - which was a little flustrating. They started charging me for the work after the second service call. I was hoping they would be more of a problem solver of why it was leaking. They made me feel like I was a nuisance, but all I wanted was a roof that did not leak -

  If we reroofed your property it comes with a craftsmenship warranty thats good for either 5 or 7 years. Love to speak with you and see what the review is about?

  Justin and team did an amazing job on our full tear off and re roof. The project was well managed, everyone that worked on it was super respectful and clean. Timelines were amazing, and we came out under budget. Not a single hiccup. They also quoted less than 3 other recommendations I had for better materials.

  I recently had my roof replaced on my home in Aliso Viejo and had an excellent experience working with JL Ray Roofing. From the initial consultation through the completion of the project, everything was handled professionally and efficiently. I worked directly with Toby and Steve, and both of them were outstanding. They were knowledgeable, responsive, and took the time to clearly explain the process, timeline, and materials involved. Communication was great throughout the entire project, which made the experience smooth and stress-free. The crew did a fantastic job with the installation and kept the job site clean and organized. The quality of the work really stood out, and the finished roof looks great.   Our 50 year roofs were sealed completely.We have two roofs with our multi level home. JLRay has worked with us before and this was a great option for us.

  I truly have no words to express my gratitude to J.L. Ray Company and especially to Steve. After completely exhausting my options, my brother’s contractor referred me to them, and by the grace of God, they answered the phone. Within less than 45 minutes, Steve had a crew at my home. And this was on Christmas Eve morning as it was pouring rain. I was overwhelmed, stressed, and honestly feeling pretty emotional when Steve stepped in and came to my rescue. That kind of responsiveness and care is rare these days. If you are even considering calling J.L. Ray Company, don’t hesitate. They are responsive, punctual, reliable, professional, and genuinely kind. Qualities you just don’t see often anymore. Thank God for Steve and his team. I am beyond grateful.

  After our last rain I developed a roof leak and called numerous roofing companies. Jack Tafoya of J.L Ray Company returned my call. We met, he made recommendations, I agreed and he had his workmen here to correct the problem before the next storm moved in. The workmen were professional and kind. They made sure the surfaces were prepared correctly. They cleaned up and even hauled away an old cable dish that was not needed. Jack was willing to meet and work with the insurance adjustor. I had gutters installed in addition to the roof repairs. I am very grateful and will always call J.L. Roofing for my roofing needs and certainly recommend them to my friends. I had another leak incident in November 2025. Colt Ward and Ether Bustos came out to assess. It was determined that the chimney was leaking into the living room. They knew exactly what to do and sent a crew out to fix the problem. I am so grateful for J.L. Ray Co, Colt, Ether and the crew. Colt came out an additional time to answer questions and give me photos of before and after. Gold stars, and many of them all around

  Colt and his team did a great job helping me at the last minute get my roof fixed and ready for the 4 days of rain last week. The price was very reasonable and they showed up on time, replaced the flashing, fixed 30 year old broken tiles, resealed all the pipes, and cleared out the debris in the gutters. I really appreciated all their help getting my roof weatherproofed as we enter into the wet season. Thanks Colt and the JL Ray team.

  I went to San Clemente High School and graduated in the same year and class as Jeff Ray. I watched his business grow over the decades, but always thought his company was the most expensive, which may or may not be true. When we needed to reroof one of our family owned properties here in town, we decided to use JL Ray for a complete reroofing of our commercial building. They did such a great job, we have now contracted them to reroof two other properties of ours. We found that our concerns about cost were unfounded, based on the quality of the products and professional services rendered from start to finish. We didn’t do any cost comparisons, but we do feel that JL Ray was the right choice for our projects, and we would recommend their expertise to anyone who wants their project to be done with knowledge, experience, logic, objectivity, and discernment. Thanks to Jeff and Fletcher, as well as Carlos and the entire JL Ray crew!
