Despite HUGE bright RED, clearly posted everywhere No Soliciting / No Knocking signs, their salesperson aggressively banged on the door & woke up my baby trying to give a sales pitch through barking dog chaos. Ignoring obvious signage is disrespectful of homeowners’ boundaries and time. Please train your team to read and respect posted signs. Would not recommend.

Nahika, we sincerely apologize for this experience. You're absolutely right. No Soliciting signs should always be respected, and we're sorry our team member didn't honor that. Waking your baby and causing a disruption in your home is unacceptable. We're addressing this directly with our team to make sure it doesn't happen again. If you're open to it, we'd love the chance to make this right. Please feel free to reach out to us directly. Again, we're sorry and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

DO NOT hire this company! We paid them 34K for work they did not finish. And to top it off, they are suing us because we refuse to pay them MORE money for unfinished work. Not to mention the poor quality of work. We have Tesla panels that they completely messed up and now they are not working. Shameless thieves! STAY AWAY!

We're sorry to hear about your frustration. The supplemental insurance payment was issued by your insurance company specifically to cover the full scope of documented work on your property. We always work within the terms of the insurance claim and are happy to discuss any concerns about the project scope or quality directly. Please reach out to our office at your convenience so we can review everything together and work toward a resolution.

Uses door-to-door salespeople who don't respect "no soliciting" signs. One stood at my door, stared at the sign, then knocked anyway. This shows no respect for potential customers.

Hi Cassandra, We’re sorry our canvasser missed your “No Soliciting” sign that was a mistake, and we understand your frustration. To stay competitive, we use trained door-to-door canvassers to identify storm damage and aging roofs. While this helps us assist homeowners, it should never come at the cost of disrespecting personal boundaries. We hope you’ll consider revising or removing your review, as it impacts our small business more than you may realize. We appreciate the feedback and will address it with our team. —Gates Enterprises

Came out and provided me with one quote for my roof after the insurance company was able to inform me how much they would cover without me disclosing that information to Gates enterprise they all of a sudden increased my estimate By $10,000. Talk about a bait and switch to try and get homeowners to call their insurance companies they “low and in reality they price high.
Reply from the business
We’re sorry to hear you feel this way, but we want to clarify a few important points. First, what we provided was not a final price it was an initial estimate based on visible damage at the time of inspection. Once your insurance company completed their full scope of loss report and included additional unforeseen line items required to bring your roof up to current code, we adjusted our estimate to reflect only what your insurance had approved. We do not add or inflate charges we strictly follow the exact line items paid for by your insurer. It seems there may be a misunderstanding: because our initial estimate was lower, you may have assumed you’d receive a financial gain from your claim. But insurance is designed to restore your property to pre-loss condition, not to generate profit. Attempting to keep money by cutting corners on the work could constitute insurance fraud. At the end of the day, it feels like we’re in a no-win situation. We followed the rules, matched the insurance scope, and performed our job with transparency. You just can’t win with some people. — Gates Enterprises

The only reason I am leaving a one star review is because I ran a business for years and it seems like when people are choosing a contractor that's all they look at!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A little more, this company was great with communication and followed through with everything they promised me when they knocked on my door in Longmont after the hailstorm. The quality was great and I'm glad I took a chance on them. Phil Ross was my project manager, I will be using them again on my future home care needs!

Do NOT work with this company. I left a bad review a couple months ago because we have been going back and forth with this company for over a year now. Our account manager has changed 4 times. They have high turn over and I don’t know who to trust. They asked me to take down the bad review so they can proceed with “helping” us and I did, but they didn’t even help us. They never finished what they promised us. This business has caused headache after headache. We finally cut ties with them and are finding a new contractor.

Gates installed a new roof at our home in March 2023. We had several leaks; we have a chimney and skylights, which they didn't do properly. Gates came back and made repairs three times, with the last possibly solving the leak. Our kitchen where the water leaked is not repaired and we have mold suspected in our ceiling. Over a year later we are still waiting for it to be fixed.

Great customer service and great installation. In addition to simply doing good roofing work, here are three things I really appreciated: 1. Very helpful through the claim filling, inspection, and insurance payment process 2. Provided large samples of multiple shingle colors 3. Provided a No Soliciting sign for our front door (in addition to a yard sign) to help reduce the DOZENS of contractors knocking on our door after a major hail storm I have already referred Brian and the team at Gates to my neighbors, who are also getting a new roof later this week!

The quality of professionalism and personal care exhibited by Brandon and his team are unparalleled. Brandon helped navigate the 'insurance' matrix, walking us through every step of the day. His team, who replaced our roof, were friendly, professional, and meticulous. It was an awesome experience from beginning to end. (How often can you really say that!!) I'd highly recommend Gates if you are considering a roof repair!

We recently completed a full roof replacement on our 90-year-old rental property in Boulder and have been very pleased with the entire experience. From the beginning, Chris Fronc, the Project Manager, and the entire team were professional, responsive, and easy to work with. What stood out most was their knowledge and expertise. Several other roofing contractors felt our insurance claim would likely be denied, but Chris helped us navigate the process successfully. Even our insurance agent was surprised by the outcome. The crew handled the challenges that come with an older home, communicated well throughout the project, and addressed issues as they arose. The workmanship, materials, and attention to detail were excellent. After the initial deposit, they never pressured us for payment during the project until the work was completed. As an added benefit, they provided the documentation needed to qualify for an $1,100 annual insurance premium reduction after installation. Thank you to Andrew Gates, Chris, Page, Matteo, Kathryn, and the entire team for helping us protect and improve an important long-term family asset.

Gates did a great job on my roof and gutters. Brandon did all of the leg work with insurance and is very professional and attentive. The installation crew was also very professional and did an excellent job cleaning up after the job was finished.

I had a great visit with Kat and JD. I had a ton of questions and they were all answered thoroughly. They were honest and weren't pushy. My roof wasn't bad but I will be calling them after this hail season is over to look it over again and when it needs replacing I'll be going with them

Kat and Jd were very nice and informative. After they inspection my roof i was told I didnt have enough damage for a claim at this point. Very honest. I will definitely call them after the next hail storm.

How to Vet Any Roofer.. Including Us Every big hailstorm brings a wave of out-of-state crews knocking doors with "free roof" promises and guaranteed approvals. Here's the honest checklist we'd give a neighbor, and it applies to us too: ask where the company is actually based and whether they'll still be here next season. Ask for the inspection findings in writing, with photos. Be wary of anyone who promises what your insurance carrier will decide — no contractor controls that decision, ever. And never sign anything on the doorstep the same day. We'd rather you take your time and choose well than sign fast. That's the whole reason this post exists.Jul 2, 2026Learn more
