I cannot comment on the quality of this contractor’s roofing work because I did not hire him. However, I can comment on my experience during the quoting process. After receiving multiple quotes, I politely informed Greg that I had decided to move forward with another contractor. Instead of simply accepting my decision, he sent me a lengthy message criticizing my choice, emphasizing the time and money he had spent preparing the estimate, and implying that I was only looking for the lowest price. As a homeowner, I have every right to compare quotes and choose the contractor I believe is the best fit. Preparing estimates is part of running a contracting business unless the customer has agreed to pay for that service (which wasn’t the case). Attempting to make a customer feel guilty for not awarding the job is unprofessional and left a very poor impression. In addition, During the visit, instead of focusing on the roofing quote, a significant portion of the conversation was spent trying to sell me additional work, including replacing my gutters. I felt there was considerable pressure to purchase services beyond what I had requested, with repeated warnings about what could happen if I didn’t proceed with the extra work. I appreciate that he took the time to visit my home, but professionalism is demonstrated not only when you win a job, but also when you don’t. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this contractor. If you are to hire this contractor, think twice. They might guilt you and use high pressure sales techniques.

I noticed a massive icicle (about a story high) hanging from the back of our house. A friend had used Empire Contractors and Roofing and spoke positively of them. When I called, they came quickly and advised me that the icicle was due to …

Thank you, Marilyn, for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We’re glad to hear you were satisfied with the quality of the work, the quick response, and the care taken to safely remove the icicle and complete the repairs on your property. Your situation was very complex, as you had a huge chunk of ice hanging on the wall next to your window which was ready to fall at any moment and we had to address that safely for you and thoroughly. That said, we also understand your concerns regarding the cost. We strive to be transparent and fair with all pricing, especially when work involves safety risks, multiple steps, ( in your case we came 6 times) and coordination between properties, While we understand that you wanted your neighbour to pay for the work that we did on your property , since the ice originated from your neighbours side , and you asked us to talk to your neighbour about this, and we told you that you have to talk to your neighbour yourself. While you were not happy about our reply , it i not our policy to mediate between neighbours. The price that we gave you was very very fair and it included new gutters and all the ice work that we did , back of your house and on the deck as welll. The price for all the work that we did was $3800.00, HST waived and we did a full flat roof inspection as well for free
