  After paying over $30k for a new roof on my mobile home in August, I have been waiting for Build Brothers to paint the galvanized cap over the “marriage joint” on top of the roof. Their excuse is that they needed to complete the solar installation on my neighbor’s roof next door! They keep putting me of and there has been no communication. Why I have to wait for another job to be finished is ridiculous and bad customer service. Beware! They do not complete the job but certainly demand final payment when they feel the job is complete.

  I have no clue how this small company amassed over 500 “reviews”, but similar to the previous reviewer, avoid this company. There are many ethical roofing companies in San Diego around, much unlike this one. Edit: Unironically, no relation to the assumed & somewhat accused other reviewer, but instead, note the absence of comment in regard to their many other “reviewers”…

  Hi Lex. Bummed you had a bad experience with us. Searching our system , I can’t find your name. I’m assuming you were in the car with the previous reviewer? If so, my apologies. We’ll be sure to get to the bottom of this and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

  On the 78 east their truck cut us off and we had to lock up our brakes to avoid a crash. these guys drive like maniacs and i can’t imagine their roofing jobs are better than their driving

  Hi Vinny. Thank goodness everyone is okay! I’m Ian, one of the owners here. We don’t take this lightly. We hold regular safety training meetings that include driver safety, all of our drivers have clean DMV records, and we are certain to reprimand when necessary. I would be very appreciative if you could email me some more details about the “truck”. We have several large vans used by our solar installers, and small dump trucks used by our roofing crews. I was able to speak with my Foreman that was driving that day. He's been with us for 9 years, he's never had an accident or ticket, and he's responsible for many of our 5 star reviews with his workmanship and attention to detail. He was very sorry for the dangerous situation. He explained that when in the dump truck, he always stays in the slow lane, or number 2 lane. This is clear in your photo. He said the traffic was bad that day (like every other day) and as soon as he changed lanes from the 2 lane to the slow lane, traffic came to an abrupt stop. He has reaffirmed his dedication to safe driving and is grateful that everyone is okay. Please be sure to reach out if you would like to discuss further. Thank you

  In short, they cut corners, didn’t check for quality, and ended up having a different crew redo the entire roof because we had a third party inspect their work. We hired Build Brothers to do a lift and lay on our tile roof. The initial inspector failed to tell us that the birdstop for our particular tile was no longer being made, and the roofers asked us if they could just do the roof without using any birdstop, which would have been against building code. The owner gave us a song and dance about ordering it custom, and when we agreed to the long manufacturing time they miraculously found a similarly shaped birdstop to do the job. Once completed the roof looked awful, worse than the old one had looked. There were peices of metal sticking out and the tiles weren’t lined up straight. We decided to hire a third party roofing company to inspect it before making our final payment and it was the best decision we’ve ever made. The tiles hadn’t been spaced properly (to avoid buying addition tiles), flashing wasn’t installed properly, and there was even a portion of wood missing at the peak of the roof where tiles were just sitting, nailed to nothing. We submitted the inspection report to Build Brothers and they had a new crew come in and redo the entire roof. It looked better but there was no way we could trust them at their word, so we hired the third party roofing inspector to check. It was good this time. If we need roof work done in the future we’ll call anyone besides these guys. The pictures here are their first attempt before redoing the roof properly

  HI Jennifer, I'd like to apologize for your experience, we feel horrible. Getting your roof done once is inconvenient, let alone twice. I will admit that we make mistakes from time to time. 2 years ago we botched a roof, similar to yours. And after discovering how bad it was, we completely redid the roof, just like yours. We appreciate the feedback, it makes us better. I feel like those that read your review will know that we take responsibility and make it right, the best we can. we appreciate your business!

  Repower will not return messages about problems with their roof job. Warranty is worthless once they have your money. Check out the integrity of owners. Buyer Beware !

  Jen and Ian were absolutely amazing to work with! They helped me with both my solar and roof repairs and went above and beyond to make sure I got the best possible price and financing options. They were professional, knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely cared about helping me find the right solution without feeling pressured.   Colton and his crew were super great to work with. I had my roof redone and put in solar panels a few years later. He was super clear with the plan and everything was executed efficiently and quickly. Super happy with all of the work they’ve done. I’d highly recommend them.

  Very satisfied with my experience with Build Brothers! Byron was great to work with—he helped figure out exactly what was wrong, got someone out quickly, and had the issue fixed right away.   I had Builder Bro install our Solar System (27 panels + Telsa batteries) last fall and it has been doing great every since. So glad not to be getting overcharged by SDGE anymore. Team is great and professional. Highly recommended.

  Solar and roof repair. Build Brothers did an amazing job on our solar installation! Our electric bill came out to zero for the entire year! When we had a leak in the roof, they were right on top of it. They repaired the leak and we never had a problem with it again. Highly recommend Build Brothers.

  Hired Build Brothers for a 5.2kW solar panel install with Tesla Powerwall 3 battery for a new ADU. They actually ended up giving me a higher grade panel than I had contracted to because of availability. Instead of bumping me down they gave me a better panel at no additional cost. Build Brothers was great to work with throughout the whole process. All employees that showed up and that I dealt with in person or over the phone were courteous and professional. They did their job and left a clean worksite after. The install was clean. Panels aligned perfectly. They took the time to run conduit inside to avoid ugly pipes and stuff running all over the roof or side of the house. All the work was done to a professional manner. No short cuts or ugly holes or wires hanging. A very clean and professional installation. They know that these type of installs can experience delays dealing with inspectors and SDGE. They were always available to come out when needed and complete the next phase. I was never left waiting for them to come out. A very good experience. Professional work. Professional employees. Just a well run company that takes the time to listen to the customer and make sure they are happy. Always responded to all my emails/texts/calls promptly.

  We had an amazing experience getting our roof replaced. Our roof situation was complicated due to location and the size/shape, but we were presented with great options to make it happen. Everyone stayed in communication with us throughout the process, and provided progress pictures as they worked. The whole project was completed very quickly and we are so happy with the end result. Thank you for our beautiful new roof!
