Don't use this company! I'm an owner (of a unit) at a residential strata complex. We paid a $45,000 deposit to Best on Top Roofing in 2022. Over a year later there has been no work done, no return of the deposit, and no contact from Best on …

Unfortunately quite a poor experience. I had a shed roof done by this company and it went well. I hired them again recently couldn’t be more disappointed. They re-roofed our double wide. First issue was not looking at the scope of the job and misquoting us, which I could understand, along with delays in starting the job. The real issues began when they attempted to have me pay full price despite not replacing rooftop venting/fixtures or flashing despite written promise to do the same. They offered me an insignificant discount as the work was already done stating they had unexpected difficulties with the flashing and that the roofer just wasn’t told that replacement was in the written contract. I insisted that the flashing get replaced and in the months waiting to have them out my roof flooded through the flashing. This is despite them insisting everything was fine and didn’t need to be replaced. I was out of country and had to fly home early when a friend found my living room flooded. Dan told me “call me when you’re home to sort it out” despite being aware that there was ongoing flooding. His response when he did finally come out was “I wish you waited longer our insurance only covers over $10K worth of damage”. After attempting to deny responsibility and stating it was old water damage despite water pouring through screws at the flashing level, Dan finally accepted responsibility. He then agreed to prioritize replacing the flashing. Not sure how it occurred, but his roofer stated that Dan ordered the wrong flashing angled at 130 degrees causing it to stick off the home. Instead of reordering they started installation without discussing and when the issue was raised said “now you don’t need gutters”. Their plan was then to return after siding and put grommets in to make it sit flat (which of course allows a number of entrance points for water again). For all this we agreed to reduce the original price by $100 per roofing vent not replaced, and $1000 on the total j

Very nice crew, but what was to be a 3 day job is now approaching the end of week 3 and still no word on when I can expect someone to come complete the job. No ridge cap on, no gutters done, some shingles still off, stuff still lying around (incl. nails), no communication. Very frustrating. Lowest price but I guess you get what you pay for.

They OWE OUR CONDO $40,000! Like many other people have noted, this business is a total scam and should be shut down by police or governments. They are taking deposits and not doing the work. AVOID

Wow they just did my roof and they were so fast! Their crew were unbelievably hard workers and very friendly. The company was very responsive to messages right away. Very fairly priced. Darcy the crew foreman was very organized and hard working.

We had a 14 year-old roof that was failing prematurely due to materials chosen for use by the builder. We had asked for input and quotes from a number of roofers, and i certainly learned quite a bit as that process progressed. I had reached out to roofers that had been referred to us by other trades, and through online reviews. I had contacted Best on Top mainly from the positive online reviews and ratings; their price came in the middle of the quotes I received. We ended up going with Best on Top due to the thoroughness of the quote, the willingness to adjust it as questions and additional items came to light, and staying in step with us as the final quote (workorder) was finalized. Also, a big part of our decision was the shingle manufacturer-backed warranty on the materials and installation. The team was in and out within about a week, the work was efficient and as-agreed. They were respectful, answered our questions as things progressed, and did a great job cleaning up at the end. I would highly recommend them.

This was our second roof installed by Best on Top, 9 years ago our shed and last week our house. We love that we were able to get the same shingles which allows us to have a uniform look. Great job done by Darcy and his crew. Thank you.

Top notch experience from start to finish. Dan was out the same day that we called him and had a quote back to us before the end of the day. Darcy and his worked through Saturday and Sunday to get the job done. 10/10 would recommend.

I rent an office downtown and the roof has been leaking there in heavy rains for years. Countless roofing campanies came to "repair" the problem, at the landlord's significant expense. New torch on. New flashing. More torch on.. Different flashing. Dan at Best on Top came and gave the place a proper assessment and did some work to try to patch thinga up during a rainy couple of weeks last year. It helped but didn't entirely solve the problem in the short term. They came back last week after learning it was still an issue, and they finally solved this issue! My most positive feedback is reserved for the roofer Adrian. He was simply incredible. He was so respectful of our business needs, so fun to deal with in the midst of this tough time, always going the extra mile, and keeping communication open. His sense of humour, his old school values of respect, common sense and plain kindness were hugely appreciated. Thanks to Best on Top for being the best. And thanks to Adrian for being the best of the best!

Best on Top is the most successful roofing company in the Nanaimo area, and sometimes success comes at a cost, as the overhead to manage several teams working across different projects at the same time can lead to challenges in managing timelines and communication with the end customer. However, their dedication to the customer makes up for it, and there is a reason the name Caroll Swartz shows up many times in these reviews. He will personally go the extra mile and make sure things will get done to the customer's satisfaction and get in front of any challenges arising during the project execution
