I hired Sun Coast Roofing in New Smyrna Beach, Florida to repair my roof in February 2025. I was told the roof coating would last more than 5 years, and the work came with a 5-year warranty. I paid close to $7,000 for this job, expecting …

First of all, it is your responsibility to transfer warranty, not ours, we do not know when a prior customer sells their home. Second, the roof was installed in 2016 and 6 years later you experience leaks. The prior owner should have had an inspection done after Hurricane Matthew that hit 10/7/2016 to ensure there was no damage, as many homes in your area got hit hard. If a roof is going to leak due to poor workmanship, it would not take 6 years to show, we live in Florida with a lot of storms. Third, all roofs are inspected after install and this roof would have not passed final inspection, if done incorrectly, plus another inspection was done for the Wind Mitigation and finally, another inspection would have been done at the time of sale of home. If the prior owner had issues with the roof before your purchase, it would have been her obligation (for full disclosure) which did not happen. We advise after any major storm, to have your roof inspected.

We were forced to replace a roof that had zero issues by the insurance company and made the absolute biggest mistake to hire Suncoast. Now we have exterior damage to siding and interior water damage in our residence as well as the adjoining …

They say that they offer a 50 year transferable warranty, and then never actually go through with the warranty. We got our roof done in 2020, and are looking to sell our house now, but they refuse to honor the transferable warranty. They keep saying that it is our responsibility to go through Gulf Coast Solar to get the warranty, but we have contacted them, and they sent the paperwork that this company refuses to reply to finalize the contract.
Reply from the business
I can see that you are frustrated with the process, and I recommend you take a look at your contract. It clearly states that the manufacturer warranty is for 20 years not 50 years. We assisted you months ago and confirmed with the manufacturer that your warranty is in fact successfully registered with them. Sun Coast is not involved in transfer of warranty, you own the warranty, upon sale of home, you normally have a small timeframe to finalize transfer of said warranty to new owner. You do however, have a 10-year, non-transferable workmanship warranty with Sun Coast and if you are currently experiencing any issues, we are happy to come out and inspect your roof for any concerns you may have.

2 months after they started work on a 3 day job, we now have more leaks than before they started work here. Communication is non existent. Nobody knows who’s doing what job and they NEVER stick to their so called schedule. As it stands we now have rain pouring through the ceiling and I’ve doubt they won’t fix anything based on previous false promises. They’ve still not even started the guttering which should’ve been completed months ago. Stay well away from this company, seriously, they are the worst I’ve ever dealt with.

BEWARE!!! Worst roofing company on the planet. We have 8 leaks in our new construction home after they installed the dry in. The sales guy Zach is also super disrespectful, does not accept any responsibility and at every turn you can expect them to try and charge you more money. They are also late and won’t even give a schedule. As you can see the response from the owner is just status quo for being unhelpful and not taking responsibility, FYI I have never met the owner I’ve only dealt with other staff at the company, nor has the owner ever called me to try to work out the issue. When you call you can’t get ahold of anyone in charge nor does anyone call you back. It’s reasonable to assume that if you have a customer who has paid you $33,415 as deposit who is unhappy because there are 8-10 leaks all over the home that as an owner of a company you would get involved, communicate with your customer and try to resolve the issue to leave your customer satisfied. So far no attempt has been made to resolve the leaks and complete the project and only disrespectful remarks have been made by the sales rep. The options are simple: fix the issues, complete the job or yes our attorneys will take it from here if that’s the path you choose versus doing the right thing. Taking money from a customer and refusing to complete the work is where we are right now. Hopefully your ethics will kick in and decide to do the right thing, Contractors board DBPR enforces this type of thing. If you would like to resolve this matter I need a phone call today from the owner and on that call we need to come to agreeable terms on resolution or else we can continue legally.

Mr Bo Pennington, you are well aware that there is more to this, and Sun Coast Roofing does not take slandering our Company or our Representatives lightly, therefore I would strongly advise that you remove these false allegations, as we have the evidence, pictures, and texts of everything that went on during your project, with no fault on Sun Coast's part. This has moved on to our attorneys, and I am sure you will be hearing from shortly.

From start to finish, my mom had such a great experience! From the office staff who helped us through the beginning of the process, to the consistent communication, to the hardworking crew who completed the job…everyone was professional, helpful, and a pleasure to work with. Most importantly, my mom’s new roof looks absolutely fabulous! The quality of the work and attention to detail really shows. We couldn’t be happier with the finished result and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a roofing company they can trust!

My husband and I interviewed and researched countless roofing companies before choosing Suncoast Roofing and Solar — and we couldn't be happier with our decision. They were the only company that was completely upfront with us, offering a fair price and quality, up-to-date materials without the pushy sales tactics we encountered elsewhere. The end results speak for themselves — our roof looks absolutely beautiful. A special thank you to Will for demonstrating such integrity throughout the entire process, and to his crew for their outstanding craftsmanship. Highly recommend! Dr. Woods & Al✨️

Will Redmond and SunCoast Roofing just did a fantastic job at my commercial property. Removed old tile roof, replaced bad wood and added new roof. They scheduled the job around my tenants schedule and the site was clean. What they didn’t know was a couple cameras were able to see them on the roof and I was amazed by the care they were actually doing. Nice job SunCoast and thank you for another roof.

There is good and bad in this company. Back when they did my roof (over 10 years ago), I gave them a $2000 deposit. They said they would be at my house in one month...well three months later they showed up. The guys did a good job even though I had a leak about 2 months later which they came out twice and repaired and fixed it the second time. SO overall they did a good job for a flat roof. But took several months to get the final inspection done and I was the one that always had to call them. Their communication is God aweful . Even if they would call me and just BS me I would have been happy. So I don't think I will use them again, I am debating because its time to redo the roof not because its leaking just that I know my insurance is gonna hit me with a required reroof eventually and I might as well beat them to it.

No idea who ZipTronic is to verify from 10 years ago, if we in fact did any work. 10 years ago really.

I can not say enough good things about Sun Coast Roofing. I worked with Will and Michelle during the process. From the early communications from Michelle keeping me in the loop on permitting and scheduling; to Will following through and keeping on top of things to the final new roof. They were fantastic. Being in the insurance industry i have seen my share of roofers and Sun coast did a great job for us. I highly recommend them.
