Skabelund Roofing did our gutters. They leak, there are drips everywhere. I went from 3 down spouts to 6 because they can't do corners. Even though there were corners before. I am now dealing with damaged soffiting. And who knows how much it will cost to fix and replace. And this is after sending pictures and several people coming out to look at it, and doing nothing.

I had Skabelund roofing replace my roof almost two years ago. It was absolutely the worst experience with any contractor I have experienced. First, the crew I got had no idea what they were doing. They removed two layers of shingles, one …

Please, go anywhere else. Our interactions with this company ended a few weeks ago when a judge found that Skabelund Roofing had engaged in deliberate misrepresentation and breach of contract. Up to that point, we had been dealing with them for 17 months on a project that they repeatedly promised would take no more than “2-3 days.” Below are just a few of the highlights. Skabelund: -left hundreds of nails and loose razor blades all over our property -left long black scuff marks on the sides of our home -destroyed flower beds -installed broken shingles after they’d promised not to -broke other shingles they’d already installed -promised us a discount on Day 5 (of the “2-3-day job”) to make up for all the problems they had caused already -told us they deliberately did not “hire Mexicans” because they only hired “people with skill.” -repeatedly messed up multiple sections, and in one instance had to redo the same small section three different times, with three different crews (and still never got it right) -told us on Day 29 (of the “2-3-day job”) that they weren’t actually going to give us a discount and that we had to pay them, immediately, the full amount of the original contract on a job they hadn’t even finished yet We tried to talk to them about the discount they’d promised. Our suggestion that they honor their promise apparently offended CEO Matt Skabelund so much that he launched a personal vendetta. He started sending threatening emails, accusing us of being con artists and threatening to sue us. We kept trying to resolve the matter and pay them, but then they stopped responding altogether. After no communication for a full five months, they got their lawyer (James Jenkins of Olson & Hoggan) to sue us (in violation of their own contract). We kept trying to resolve things, and they kept threatening us with thousands of dollars in improper fees. To get them and their lawyer to stop harassing our family, we gave them a check for the full amount of the origina

Have a roof that leaks and lots of water damage. They refuse to fix anything even though it is only 3 years into its 10 year warranty. They refuse to answer my calls. We will see how it goes with trying to ignore the lawsuit.

I’m writing as a nearby homeowner in our HOA who watched Skabelund Roofing re-roof our neighbor’s home last year. What should be a 2–3 day project stretched to well more than two weeks, and with no weather delays. The crew didn’t appear short-staffed and they were on site all day, but progress was unusually slow—you typically hear nail guns and steady activity on a roof; that wasn’t the case here. Disruption & cleanup: Because we share common areas, the extended timeline mattered. Large trailers sat on our narrow street for more than two weeks. At the end of most days materials and debris were left around (no catch tarps or daily leaf blower/magnet sweeping that I could see). Loose nails were found in the area, which is a safety concern for kids, pets, and tires. Quality & callbacks: After “completion,” they had to return to fix visible items that weren’t cut cleanly and to repair the ridge vent. Management did stop by at times, but fixes seemed to happen only after being contacted. I can’t speak to how many total return visits there were, but it wasn’t a clean first pass. Our neighbor also shared that payment became a battle, which didn’t inspire confidence. Why we didn’t hire them: We received a quote from Skabelund but chose another roofer. That alternative (Apex) completed two houses (ours and another neighbor’s) in three days total, cleaned thoroughly each day (tarps down, leaf blowers, magnet sweeps, walk-throughs), and charged about $3,000 less than Skabelund’s quote. Everything was done right the first time. We have another neighbor that just got theirs done last week by a different company than ours (Roof Rescue) and it was completed in 1 day, with zero issues, and the weather was less than ideal. Bottom line: Based on what I observed and our own experience with other contractors after, I cannot recommend Skabelund Roofing. If you value a tight schedule, daily cleanup, attentive supervision, and a first-pass finish, I’d suggest getting other bids and as

My family friends hired Skabelund Roofing with the expectation of professional work and timely service. Unfortunately, the experience was frustrating, what was meant to be a week long job has turned into a year long law suit. They left garbage all over our property, including nails, shingles, and other materials scattered across the driveway and yard, making it difficult for cars to dive and kids to be outside. They left hundreds of rusty nails and razor blades all of the property after the job was "finished" disregarding cleaning any of it and causing risk for anyone to be outside. The roofers also left sections of the roof exposed for days at a time and never fully repaired certain areas. When we raised these concerns, and wanting to re negotiate the bid, the company filed a lawsuit. They were also unresponsive and made no effort to correct all of the issues which they had caused. The lack of accountability and poor communication throughout the process made it clear that customer satisfaction is not a priority for them and all they care about is money. I would not recommend Skabelund Roofing to anyone. Save yourself the stress and go with a company that doesn't suck.

Roof is 3yrs old on a new build and has had many leaks, lost shingles and gutter problems all along. Interior damage. The whole roof needs replaced. Very poor install. They had to do the soffit and facia twice and it's still not great. Owner is out of touch iand unresponsive. Looks like I'm not the only one with issues with this company.

Hired Skabelund to repair some leaky rain gutter joints last Fall. They made the first “repairs” in November, but it rained a couple of weeks later and it was very apparent that their “repairs” made the problem much worse. I tried contacting them about the issue several times before they finally responded and sent someone to resolve the issue more than a month later, but the next time it rained the new joints were still leaking very badly. I tried reaching out again; once via email and twice via phone but never received a response. I only paid $300 for the work, but it has proven completely worthless, and the customer service response has been horrible. Based on other reviews, this seems like a company to either love or hate. Must depend on who handles your project.

Skabelund was good to come out and meet with us timely after the home show. We did lose our sales guy after we signed, as he got a new job, so that was a little rough transition, however once we all got back on the same page it was great. …

Skabelund Roofing was professional and easy to work with on our back porch roof. The workers went out of their way to finish the job. We will call Skabelund in the future for sure.

Everyone was very kind and helped me navigate this process, as it was my first time. My insurance company was telling me something that didn’t seem quite right so I talked with the office staff and Marty and they all agreed it sounded out of the ordinary. It was a very stressful project for me but everyone across the whole process helped calm my nerves. It was also fun to hear the installers singing to their music, from ABBA to Bon Jovi to Toby Keith.

Skabelund Company did a great job installing the new gutters and drain tubes. They cleaned everything up and hauled away all of the old items. Now we can hope for the rains to try them out. Well we had our first rain Aug 26, 2025 and had quite a few leaks between the roof and the gutters. I’ve sent videos to let Skabelund know as the area over my steps was really bad. Gutter still has a leak over the steps into my house but the rest have sealed up nicely. We also had our roof completely done with shingles as it was a rock asphalt. So far everything with the roof seems great. Thanks Bunches! Darlene and Hugh Von Niederhausern

I’m writing this as both a neighbor who observed the job firsthand and a former roofer. I recently watched three young men from this company replace my neighbor’s roof, and in my opinion, they did an outstanding job. I never once saw them stop working—they used every minute they had and even stayed after dark each day to get it done. They started on Monday and finished by mid-day Saturday. From my experience in roofing, it looked like an overwhelming task, yet the rows and ridge lines are straight, and the valleys look clean and professional. I would absolutely trust them to do my own roof.

Skabelund roofing did a fine job on our roof. They did the work I wanted done in a timely manner. New edge trim attic vents and shingles. The crew arrived on a Thursday and finished Friday evening staying after dark to finish. Clean up was good and the young men on the crew did a good job and were very personable. Thank you a good project to have done.
