Updated review as of June 5, 2026 Here's my update on my experience with Roof Buddy (formerly known as ABI Construction). ABI Construction / Roof Buddy finished installing my solar panel and solar system back in April 2025. It's now June 5, 2026 and the company still did not activate my system. Taking over 13 months to get my solar system to be activated truly is beyond ridiculous. The constant delay on paperwork processing and installation reflects subpar work flow. As stated previously, this has nothing to do with my project manager Sam, as she has been trying very hard to correct all of the mistakes and delays that the company has made numerous times. 2 stars is more than generous for review of Roof Buddy. I sincerely hope that the company can take the review to heart and improve its work quality. ------------------------- I had Roof Buddy replace my home’s roof, install solar system, paint house exterior with Cool Life waterproof paint, and replace the house’s interior wires. In all honesty, the job quality really is just average and nothing worth to write about. The workers’ quality of work is sloppy and subpar at times. If I were to rate from one to five stars for the workmanship, it only deserves three stars. However, if I were to rate my project manager Sam, she is worth five stars. She is empathetic, proactive, extremely knowledgeable, honest, friendly, easy to talk to, and goes above and beyond to try to address the issues that I had with work quality. She is the silver lining of the projects, and I honestly have to say that Roof Buddy truly has a gem among its rank, namely Sam. If you are thinking of giving Roof Buddy a try, I would ask for Sam to be the project manager, as she is as rare as they come when it comes to top notch project manager.

They will not stop contacting me insisting on a review. The roof looks fine, the works is obviously done hired contractors. Nothing stands out about the work it does not feel top of the line work. Once you let them inside of your home it will be hard to get them out if they drive out to you they plan on getting that deal closed. I did not appreciate that while the job was being done and inspections were being completed they kept putting up signs to promote themselves. We did not sign a free promotion that I was aware of or get a discount for it. If you cannot afford to pay upfront for the service then they are an option for you. I am sure it was more overprized taking the finance route. At some point they had to come inside of the house and a bracelet has not been seeing since. I did not bother to contact them about it since it was just a pandora bracelet and I wanted to be over with them. But since they seem to keep texting me and calling me here is my honest review.

ABI Construction charges a premium. If you expect quality, attention to detail, and the ability to stick to a schedule to accompany that premium, it won't happen. Throughout the project we noticed several things that were done incorrectly, likely a result of them cutting corners to improve their bottom line. If you end up using ABI, pay attention and review ALL their work. They probably bet on homeowners not noticing. Don't let them take advantage of you. I was promised multiple times that the project would be complete by a specific date. Even with a week buffer, I still had to cancel Airbnb guests because of their delays. Add 2-3 weeks as a buffer to be safe if you rely on your property for income. And even then you might still be left scrambling. Overall, I feel like I could have received the same quality and timeline for 20% less. I was willing to pay 20% more since they promised an experience that was better than it would be working with other contractors but those promises were empty. Save your money. ABI isn't any different.

It took 90 days from date of contract to complete a simple tile roof for a 2000 square foot home! Failed to show up on a consistent basis along with very poor cleanup. Stay away!!

    Reply from the business

Hi Steve, Thank you for your feedback—we truly value it and take it to heart. Our team carefully reviews every completion certificate, which includes customer input on cleanup, workmanship, and overall experience, to continuously improve our processes. Regarding your project, we understand that delays can be frustrating. Unfortunately, weather conditions and the steep pitch of your tile roof significantly impacted the installation timeline. Unlike shingle or torch-down roofs, tile installations on steep surfaces require extra time and caution to ensure both quality and crew safety. While we always aim for efficiency, safety is our top priority, meaning work must be paused during rain or when surfaces remain wet. That said, communication is also something we take seriously. Our records show that Marcus from our production team was in touch with you 43 times throughout the project to provide updates and address concerns. We strive to keep our customers informed every step of the way and appreciate your patience during the process. If there's anything else we can do to address your concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

I am very disappointed and regret trusting Ari and Chris. The last thing I should have done in my life was to sign a contract with them. They quoted me the highest price of $33,969 for a 1400SF home. In the end, the price was the highest. I advise everyone not to look for this company. Their price is much higher than others.

We’re sorry you feel dissatisfied, but it’s important to correct the record. Your home did not have a 1,400 sq. ft. roof — the actual roofing surface was approximately 2,800 sq. ft. due to slope, overhangs, and overall layout, which is standard practice when calculating roofing area. Additionally, your roof had three existing layers, including wood shake — which is not only outdated but illegal under current California Building Code. This required complete removal and full replacement of the roof sheathing (decking) to bring your home up to code. These are not cosmetic upgrades. They are structural and legal requirements that significantly increase labor, materials, and disposal costs. Comparing your project to that of a neighbor with a single-layer comp shingle roof and no sheathing replacement is simply not accurate. The contract you signed included all scope details, and you were provided a full three-day legal right of rescission — which you chose not to exercise. Your roof today is beautiful, durable, and compliant. We take pride in our work and stand behind the fairness of the price based on what was required to do the job properly and legally. We welcome feedback, but it should be based on facts. Misrepresenting your scope of work doesn’t help other homeowners — it only causes confusion.

They mailed me a flyer promising a free estimate and $750 off. I called and explained that I live in a condo, explain I’ve got a leak, can they come out for an estimate. Of course, they say. So the guy comes out, and I explain the whole thing to him. He gets his ladder out and checks everything out. Then when he’s done he basically says that it’s too small a project for them, and that they’re really only trying to replace entire roofs. Why mail the flyer to me then? Why didn’t anyone say anything when I clearly explained it was a condo and what I was looking for???? The guy was actually helpful, but balked when I asked if he could send me pictures or write anything up so that I could take it to another place that does roof repair. He said sure, but of course never did. Complete waste of time.

I tried to get a schedule for them to come out to get an estimate for a roof. He said my wife had to be present too for them to get me a quote. He said it will be a waste of time of she wasn't here for the quote. It is a quote, it's not rocket science just to get a quote. Why does my wife has to be present? He said it "company policy" for both homeowner to be present. It's a quote or does she want to be there so they can do some sales tactic for them to earn my business. I don't understand that. So from the beginning he was very pushy and frankly, if they are pushy now, just imagine during the construction process.

    Reply from the business

Hi Michael, Thank you for your feedback. We understand your concerns about having all property owners present, and we’d like to provide some context for why we approach it this way. At ABI Construction, we take a holistic approach to roofing projects. We don’t just show up, stand on your lawn, give you an estimate, and hope to hear from you later. A roof is a significant investment that will protect your home for decades, and we treat it with the care and attention it deserves. Our goal is to ensure that all decision-makers are fully informed and have the opportunity to ask questions from the start. When we provide a free estimate, it comes with real value—our specialists travel to your home, perform a thorough inspection, and discuss material options tailored to your needs. Having all property owners present ensures that everyone with a vested interest can hear the information firsthand, make informed decisions, and avoid any potential miscommunication later on. Contrary to your comment about being pushy during the process, we pride ourselves on clear and open communication, which is exactly what this approach is about. We want to be transparent and provide everyone with the details needed to make an informed decision, rather than leave anyone feeling uncertain or left out. This isn’t about being pushy—it’s about respecting the time and input of everyone involved in such an important decision, and ensuring that we provide the best service possible in one efficient visit. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, and we’re always here to help if you have any further questions.

We had a great experience working with Roof Buddy on our home improvement project. They replaced our roof, repaired and painted the exterior with Cool Life, and installed new windows throughout our entire house. The quality of the work exceeded our expectations, and the entire team was professional from start to finish. Samantha took the time to sit down with us and thoroughly explained the entire process. She was patient, knowledgeable, and made sure we understood what to expect every step of the way. Marcus also kept us informed with timely updates on the progress of each phase of the project. His communication was excellent, and we always knew what was happening and what to expect next. Thank you again!

I’m not usually one for reviews, but this was the first time I had truly exceptional communication with a project manager. Daniel was outstanding throughout the entire job, from the initial inspection to checking the roof and attic, which other roofers didn’t do. He also took the time to explain everything in detail, providing a comprehensive overview of the scope of work. The crew was incredibly friendly and respectful of our property. They cleaned up thoroughly and worked efficiently to meet my expectations. I highly recommend them without hesitation. I’m already planning to bring Daniel back to provide us with a paint estimate next. He mentioned that they offer a wide range of services beyond roofing, but their primary focus is on general contracting and full remodeling. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had Daniel come out for a roof inspection and he was the best priced and best informative on the products he had shown me and my wife. I would highly recommend him as I’ve had some issues with contractors in the past and referred him to my family and friends already for their roofs.
