The chimney had been covered with repeated beads of sealant, but water continued entering during driven rain.Loose material was removed, the affected flashing was rebuilt, and new counterflashing was secured into sound masonry joints. The repaire looked for more deliberate than the previous patches, and the contractor explained which future chimney maintenance remained separate.
