  Not really sure why Brendan did not come through with a quote for a roof on my addition. Was it because I am a single woman making it on my own in Cambridge? DeLuca came highly recommended. Maybe I am not good enough for their services. Or they are too good for my money. Still not sure why. But don't really care anymore. I don't need that disservice.

  Avoid they don’t know what they are doing and had one job to fix a leak. Still leaking even after they came back three times. Forgot half of the work I asked and when I noticed had to call them to finish the job after payment.

  Hi John, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, even if it came with just one star. To clarify a few things: when we first spoke, I asked whether your property was commercial. You mentioned it was “mixed,” which can mean a lot of things. As it turns out, your building is a three-story commercial strip with residential above (not exactly the residential homes we specialize in).  That’s on me, I should’ve dug a little deeper.  Once our sales rep took a look (thank you, Google Street View), he realized it wasn’t a project we’re suited for. Rather than driving out to Cambridge to meet up with you for a polite but ultimately pointless conversation, he figured it was better to be upfront.  For what it’s worth, he’s been in roofing for over 35 years and has a pretty straightforward, no-fluff communication style. He calls things as he sees them and is always upfront and honest. He’s also the first to walk away from a job if he knows it’s not a fit for us, rather than offer an empty quote just to be polite. Was it frustrating? Sure. But a one-star review for not wasting your time or ours? Odd.  As a property owner, you absolutely have every right to choose the contractor you work with, and on our end, we also reserve the right to choose the type of work (and properties) we take on. It’s not personal; it’s just good business. We absolutely appreciate every customer who reaches out, and we just want to make sure we’re the right roofer for the job. In this case, we weren’t, and we thought honesty was better than a half-hearted quote. Wishing you a smooth roofing experience.

  DeLuca Roofing is currently working on our townhouse complex, and I must say that it is not a good experience. This crew of roofers with Shannon as their foreman are very unprofessional. They do not respect people's units or that they have families and kids. They worked on Saturdays and started banging away at 7 am 3 weeks in a row until someone had to let them know bylaw is 9 am on Saturdays to make noise. Also, I have pictures of the terrible workmanship that they have done on our shingles. Leaving garbage all over the place. Leaving nails lying around everywhere. It should have been cleaned up, especially when we have little kids running around. Our backyards are left with plastic and garbage and nails all over in plane sight and in our gardens. Not to mention, they knocked our plant, and the flowers and soil everywhere. They didn't even take the time to fix it 😒 but just loft it up and left the soil hanging out of the pot. This is unacceptable from a company and a crew of professionals. I do not recommend DeLuca Roofing. Also, you can see shingles are lifted everywhere. Nothing was cut around the window, and they left shingles hanging. You call this professional work. I think not.

Use of your outdoor space can be limited, and noise, debris and equipment are interfering in the general routine of individuals and families. We apologize for our misunderstanding regarding the noise bylaw - work was promptly stopped. We will be sure to verify timelines in the various townships going forward. While we would have preferred for you to bring your concerns to us through on-site communication or via the property management, we understand that sometimes frustration leads to reviews such as these. Several weeks later, the installation is now complete and we have received multiple unsolicited notes from other residents and property management with appreciation for a job well done.   Hi T*T, Thank you for highlighting the most challenging aspect of being a supply and install contractor. As you describe, we completed a quality installation, and even corrected our colour error. Shingle warranties have a limited up front wind warranty. Shingles from 14 years ago were often limited to a five year warranty against wind. A 25 year shingle warranty is not a 25 year warranty against wind damage. Depending on the type of shingle installed 14 years ago, the maximum warranted wind rating would likely have been between 97 and 115 km/hr - And the region has seen winds exceeding those ratings at least half a dozen times over the last 10 years. The shingle seals can be affected after just one major wind storm. To repair a roof and replace damaged shingles after several years leads to challenges with UV fading, product discontinuation and colour mix changes by the manufacturers - all things beyond our control as an installer.   Mr. West, It appears that the re-roofing project at your neighbour's home is in progress with workers still on site installing. I believe what can also be seen in the tight shared space between the homes is a tarp to catch the inevitable falling debris, placed there in an effort to protect the property and make clean up efficient and thorough at the end of each day and at the end of the project.   Good Morning Iza, We thank you for noting your concerns with our service following the extreme wind storm of May 4th 2018 where winds reached gusts of 126 km/hr. Our office received extreme volumes of calls - and the calls have continued for weeks. As calls were being constantly fielded, our voicemail was filling up. We understand that this is a frustrating situation when you are concerned about your home. You are correct, DeLuca Roofing is under new ownership. Market research determined that our Service fees were far below market, and an increase was implemented to bring us closer to our competitors fees - as you indicate, our quoted fee was comparable to the company you contracted for your repair. DeLuca Roofing has been in business for over 30 years and with that we have a large customer base. With a wind storm, or weather event that causes roof damage, we receive a lot of calls, and as the repair requests come in, the lead time grows. We are glad to hear that you were able to get your roof repaired. Many weeks later, there is still a lot of visible damage on roofs throughout the region. I'm sure all reputable roofing companies are doing their best to service all of their customers as quickly as possible, as we are doing here at DeLuca Roofing.   Good Afternoon Ron, Thank you for noting your concerns with your roof following the major wind storm on May 4th, 2018 which had wind gusts recorded at 126 km/hr. Last Spring we also had an extreme storm with winds recorded at 115 km/hr. I investigated our service records based on the history you have listed, and the shingle installed at your home is rated for maximum wind gusts of 97 km/hr. We understand that this is a frustrating situation, and has been especially difficult due to the damage the shingles caused once removed by the wind. Unfortunately due to the wind ratings and wind speeds, the damage to the roof is not covered under the shingle manufacturers wind warranty, and it is considered insurable damage. Wind and extreme weather that causes roof damage results in large influxes of calls and emails to our office. We apologize that it is difficult to get through.   New shingles, new vents and fascia repair done. Work site cleared and clean. Excellent. Contacted the next season: squirrels damaging fascia and trying to get into the roof, pulling up shingles.. Raccoon trying to lift one of the vents. Quick response. Thorough repair to secure the areas. Inspected entire roof to check for any other areas affected (none). Contacted a couple years later (just now) to have clogged eaves cleared. A challenging job because of pitch of roof and steepness of surrounding land. Kirk cleared all eaves, cleaned work site. Thorough, quick, skilled work. Experience shows. Very pleased. Pleasant and professional staff.
