Avoid CFY Roofing Construction – Dishonest and Predatory Practices I had a terrible experience with CFY Roofing. They are not an honest company. …

Dear Juli, We are disappointed to hear that you feel this way about your experience, and we believe it is important to clarify the circumstances surrounding your project for future customers reading this review. First, your original estimate was not based on a physical roof inspection. The estimate was prepared using documentation and estimates that you provided to us via email. At no point prior to the project start were we informed that the roof contained multiple layers of roofing material or underlying wood shake. Once the existing roof was removed, we discovered four layers of roofing material and deteriorated wood shake beneath the surface—conditions that were completely concealed and could not have been identified from the information provided. As stated verbally and clearly outlined in both the estimate and signed contract, any unforeseen conditions discovered during the tear-off process would be communicated and would result in additional costs if corrective work was required. Specifically, our estimate stated: "This estimate covers the removal of any additional layers of roof materials found after the (1) one layer included at $1,600.00." "In the event CFY comes across any damaged plywood, the first 200 sq. ft. of dry rot are included in the price mentioned above. If the damage is more than 200 sq. ft., the price per sheet of plywood will be $150 per sheet." These terms were disclosed before work began, so there would be no misunderstanding if hidden conditions were encountered. As is standard in the roofing industry, unforeseen structural conditions uncovered during demolition can affect the final cost of a project. Understanding your concerns and the approaching rain forecast, we worked extensively with you to reduce costs and keep the project moving so your home would not remain exposed to the elements. Despite the substantial additional labor and materials required, we reduced pricing multiple times in an effort to help complete the project within

After careful research, we selected CFY for our roof repair. We signed the contract on Sep. 9 and scheduled a start date for the following week on Sep. 15. On Friday, Sep. 12 at 6 PM, we received an email that they could not proceed with any work due to "weather," i.e. they do not proceed if there is more than a 20% chance of rain. They have not given us a new date and have since postponed the work twice. We had selected them partially due to their ability to get started quickly, but are now being told that they are backlogged due to the weather. So just be aware that if it is forecasted to rain one day during the week that your work is to be scheduled, there is a very high likelihood that your project will be continually delayed. It's a shame because they come recommended, and I wish this review was about how fair their quotes were or how good the work is, but we're stuck in scheduling hell.

Very easy people to work with. Called, got an estimate, scheduled the roof and that was pretty much it.

We have a small commercial building with a flat roof that was holding water around one of the drains. They removed the worn roofing in that area, repaired the surface underneath and corrected the drainage before installing the new membrane. I specifically wanted the source of the problem addressed instead of another coating thrown on top, and thats what they did.

Our project was mostly around the edges of the roof. Years of bad gutters had left sections of the fascia pretty rough, and some of the wood underneath was starting to go too. They removed what was damaged, replaced the fascia and decking where necessary, then finished the reroof. Seeing that old wood come out was probably the most satisfying part.

    Reply from the business

Dear Andrew, Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re glad we could take care of the damaged fascia and decking and get everything properly repaired during the reroof. It’s always rewarding to uncover and replace the old, deteriorated wood and leave the roof in solid shape. We really appreciate your trust in us and are happy you’re satisfied with the finished project! Sincerely, CFY Construction Team.

This was a pretty substantial project. The main house, attached garage, and covered patio all had different roof sections from additions done over the years. Some areas needed new plywood, the old vents were replaced, and the transitions between the low slope patio roof and the shingle roof had to be redone. I stopped by during the work a few times and there was always noticeable progress. Now everything looks like one complete roofing system instead of three different projects.

Dear Keirston Thank you for sharing your experience! With multiple roof sections and transitions, proper coordination and attention to detail are especially important. We’re glad our team was able to bring everything together into one cohesive roofing system while keeping the project moving efficiently. Our house has a flat section over an addition that had been giving us trouble for years. Water would sit in one corner after it rained and eventually we started seeing stains inside. They removed the old material, corrected the drainage in that area, and installed a new membrane roof. Finally nice to see that section done properly.

One section of our roof had settled over the years and water wasn't draining the way it should. During the replacement they corrected the low spot before installing the new roofing system. It wasn't something I would have ever noticed, but it made me feel a lot better knowing it was fixed correctly.

We weren’t planning on replacing the roof this year, but during a window replacement project our contractor pointed out several areas where the shingles had become brittle. We decided it made more sense to handle everything before installing the new windows. The timing worked out perfectly, and now we know the exterior of the house is in great shape for years to come.

    Reply from the business

We’re glad the timing worked out and that we could help get the roof taken care of before the new windows were installed. Addressing those areas early was a great way to protect the home and avoid potential issues down the road. We appreciate you sharing your experience and hope you enjoy the peace of mind that comes with having the exterior ready for the years ahead! Sincerely, CFY Construction Team

Our house has a few dormers and a lot of different roof lines, so I figured this would be a challenging project. I was impressed with how clean everything came together. The valleys line up nicely, the ridge caps are straight, and every transition looks seamless. You can tell this wasn’t rushed.

I’m pretty picky when it comes to contractors, so I noticed all the small details. The ridge lines are clean, the flashing around the chimney looks professionally done, and the crew treated our property with respect. It’s refreshing to hire a company that takes pride in their work.

The project included our house, detached garage, and backyard workshop. I figured they’d do one structure at a time, but they had everything organized and finished all three without the property feeling like a construction zone. Everything matches now and the whole place looks much more put together.

    Reply from the business

Our goal is always to minimize disruption while delivering consistent, high-quality results, so it's great to know the house, garage, and workshop all came together seamlessly.
