7/10 water coming into the house at window during rain storm. 7/11 called bloomfield construction and was told someone would call me back that day or the next. NO call received. We had more rain overnight on 7/15-16 and I called again 7/16 and I was in their system so gal said she would send the info immediately. I requested them at I receive a call even if they don't want the job, and she said ok. It is 7/17 and no one has called. So now I probably have water damage inside my walls and insulation possibly creating molsmd and thus company can't even be bothered to give me a three minute phone call to say sorry not interested. And you had so many great reviews......

Hello Judy, First of all we are sorry for the delay in response here. You had called at a time when there was significate flooding and we were just swamped with calls at that time. We're truly sorry to hear about your experience and want to sincerely apologize for the lack of follow-up you've received. This is not the level of service we strive to provide, and we understand how frustrating and stressful it must be to deal with a water intrusion issue—especially without timely communication from us. Again please accept our apology and we hope you were able to get everything resolved in a timely manner.

We had a terrible experience with this company and would not recommend them to anyone. They can't be trusted, they aren't true to their word, or their contract. For no valid reason they skipped out of a signed contract with us for major insurance repairs after a tree fell on our home. They started the job but after doing very little work (that was subpar) they told us they would not finish and left us with a damaged roof, a leaking basement and months of delays. And now they won't return our calls. And they just don't care. BEWARE!
Reply from the business
Shiela, Your claim that we did not return calls is simply untrue. We made multiple attempts to communicate during normal business hours, but the only responses we received were late-night emails from your husband. Regarding the roof, the damage was caused by the fallen tree—not by us. Additionally, the previous contractor, who abandoned the job, was responsible for tarping the roof and leaving it in the condition it was in when we arrived. As for the basement, the issue was pre-existing. The wall had been leaking for years, and after a heavy rain—combined with the absence of a functioning gutter—the window well filled with water, which then pushed through long-standing foundation cracks. The water intrusion occurred on an unfinished floor, as shown in the photos. When your husband claimed that we were responsible for the basement leak and insinuated that we should pay for repairs to both the wall and possibly the furnace, it became clear that we were not aligned in expectations. Honest business relationships require transparency and accountability, and unfortunately, we did not feel we were receiving that from you. Instead, you attempted to shift blame onto us and involve the insurance company in an unfair manner. With over 30 years in business, I have learned that the jobs that go awry often stem from misaligned expectations and poor communication. Despite my team’s concerns about whether we would be able to meet your expectations, I encouraged them to move forward and give it another effort. However, after receiving the letter blaming us for the basement leak, I made the decision to terminate our contract. At that point, I instructed my attorney to issue a formal cancellation notice. I had considered reaching out to arrange a meeting to reset expectations and find a resolution, but instead, you chose to post a public and untrue review, effectively ending any opportunity for a constructive conversation. Ultimately, there are many qualified contractors available, an

Two years ago Bloomfield Construction did a full exterior remodel of my home (roof including roof deck and ice shield, and shingles, gutters, soffits, spray foam insulation, siding, paint, windows, skylights, and more, This was nearly $80,000 of work. During the work the insulation sub-contractor, RetroFoam of Michigan, fell through my roof twice, sprayed foam insulation all over the interior of my new bathroom, they never fully fixed the bathroom, or reimbursed me either. Right after the project was completed I started noticing a lot of very high humidity in the house (over 70%) and my living room ceiling started cracking. Bloomfield Construction came out several times to look and decided to skim coat the ceiling for me. This addressed the cosmetic issues but the humidity was an ongoing problem. Then a year went by (this past fall) and my ceilings all began cracking and caving in. Large sections were coming off and wet crumbly hunks and brown water was dripping through. I started calling the contractor (Bloomfield Construction). It took six months for them to act on this and it wasn't until I called the city inspector to have a look and I paid another insulation company to come out and give me an opinion. The insulation that was put in was the wrong kind of insulation and was put in incorrectly, and was leaving open gaps which was making condensation inside of my roof structure. Essentially I had a giant wet sponge sitting inside of my roof (cathedral ceilings) and it was wet in there for a long time growing mold. I was moved out of the house and all of my belongings were piled in my basement without my consent. I was told everything would be moved off site. They tore out my ceilings in the entire house along with all the electrical wiring and light fixtures. The house sat like that for months. I was promised they would do all sorts of extras to make up for all of this hassle, but when I asked the owner about it he informed me they would if I paid them to. He

I won’t deny that this project encountered significant challenges—because it certainly did. The primary issue arose when our insulation subcontractor, RetroFoam of Michigan, installed the incorrect foam in the cathedral ceilings. Despite multiple inspections by insurance companies and repeated denials of responsibility from RetroFoam, we took full accountability as the General Contractor and filed a claim under our insurance policy. Ultimately, we subrogated against RetroFoam, and they were deemed responsible. However, processing the claim took longer than expected due to delays with the insurance carrier. Once approved, we began the extensive process of removing the ceilings and incorrect insulation. During this process, we discovered mold on the roof decking and rafters, requiring additional testing, lab analysis, and a remediation protocol from a hygienist—further extending the timeline. The suggestion that this work could have been completed in 4–6 weeks is simply inaccurate. I’m not sure where that timeframe originated, but it certainly didn’t come from us. Additionally, all contents in the home had to be removed and stored offsite, adding to the complexity of the project. After mold remediation was complete, we encountered yet another issue—improper wiring for the ceiling lights. This work had been done by her “handyman” without permits and was not up to code. Determining who was responsible for covering the costs of correcting this issue caused further delays, as neither her insurance carrier nor ours would approve the claim. Understandably, we could not proceed with electrical work until a resolution was reached. Ultimately, after weeks of negotiations, I took on the $5,500 cost personally as a gesture of goodwill. Unsurprisingly, this wasn’t mentioned in her 1-star review. We also discovered that her exterior walls contained no insulation and informed her that this would be the ideal time to address the issue while the home was under construction. She de

This company is a nightmare to work with. They never answer the phone and when they do the receptionist tells you to take your already invested business elsewhere...or the person your working with is always on vacation. They leave you in a home thats not liveable for 3-6+ months. They overcharge you and try to charge for work not done. Leave you to fend for yourself just to get things completed. Hold your personal belongings hostage. You basically have to hire a lawyer to get things finished with them. So my "buyer beware" warning is if you plan to actually use this group dont leave your home while they are there, take pictures of all the work they do, set your own deadlines of when YOU want the work done and make them sign a contract you write up! Then go over their paperwork with a fine tooth comb and look for items they toss in that were NEVER DONE bc there will be many. Dont just except their bill as is. I cant believe how rude and unprofessional this company is or how they have been able to stay open this long.

Their warranty is NOT transferrable! This will affect your property's resale value. Think twice before you use their service! Based on our complain and their response, you can see below, instead of choosing to resolving the problem, they chose to fight. This is their business rationale. I bought a property located at Bloomfield Hills. The previous owner installed Hardie board siding last year. The original contract said "5 year guarantee from Bloomfield Construction on workmanship." There is nowhere on contract to state that this workmanship warranty is non transferrable. However, when I contacted the company to transfer warranty, they told me that they do NOT transfer this warranty at all. They only transfer manufacture warranty of the Hardie board materials. In other words, if they did not install it properly and some boards fall off some day, they will not be responsible for this. This is the way they treat their customers! When I further asked them, they even asked me "Did we sign contract with you?" The reality is that I paid for this property, which includes their siding work! That means I paid them indirectly. From swimming pool, equipment, to attic work, other contractors all provide reasonable transferrable warranty. Bloomfield Construction is the only company that does not provide reasonable warranty. In their responses below, they still argue that I did not even pay them. The fact is that the previous owner just spent a lot of money to replace siding, with the hope to increase their resale value. I also communicated with the previous owner. He said this company never told him that this workmanship warranty was not transferrable. I looked at the contract, and did not find anywhere to state that this is non transferrable. From their response below, you can find that, instead of taking their responsibility, they chose to fight back. This is their style of management. If you ever consider replacing siding or remodeling for your house, this company may no

Zhifeng, The particular project we performed for the previous owner of your home came with a 5 year workmanship warranty, 30 Non-prorated material warranty, and 15 year Color Plus warranty on the finish of the product. As we discussed on the phone, our workmanship warranty is not transferable, and this is clearly stated in our contract with our customer. However, as we discussed the product warranty directly through the siding manufacturer is transferable. We apologize for any misunderstanding. As we reiterated multiple times, if you have an issue please feel free to call us and we will be happy to service you! I’m not sure what more you are looking from our company, but as a small family owned business it can be very damaging for people to write unwarranted one star reviews when you are respectfully not even a paying customer of ours.

I contacted Bloomfield Construction to schedule an estimate on some roof and siding repairs. The first call, I was told that the person who schedules was busy but they would call me back ASAP. That was a Friday afternoon and received no call back. Saturday I called again and was told that they would call me on Monday to discuss. I never received a call. If a repair job revenue isn't worth the time to Bloomfield Construction, that's fine. Make sure you tell people that rather than telling them multiple times you are going to return a call and then never do.

We got home from vacation to find 5-6 inches of water in the basement. I wasn't sure where to turn and I made a couple calls but other companies didn't have an estimated time to take a look. Later that day I called Bloomfield Construction and John came out that evening and walked me though what to expect for the cleaning process. I instantly felt better knowing the problem was going to be taken care of. He came back the next morning to get the water pumped out and a few guys came by in the afternoon to place fans and a dehumidifier. John and his team helped out every step of the way, cutting out drywall and getting the trash out. I wouldn't hesitate to call Bloomfield Construction again if I have any restoration issues in the future.

During a recent storm, our roof started leaking. I called a few contractors. Pat from Bloomfield Construction was the first one to show up. He climbed on the roof for an estimate and even did a temporary fix. The quote was very reasonable and I told the other contractors not to bother. He came back out as promised and did a great job. I will definitely call them again the next time it rains in my house.

Thank you so much for the kind words, Michael! Storm leaks are never fun, so we’re really glad Pat was able to get out there quickly, take care of a temporary fix, and follow through with a proper repair. That’s exactly the experience we aim to provide, responsive, honest, and reliable from start to finish. We appreciate you trusting Bloomfield Construction, and we’ll be here anytime you need us.

Looking for an honest contractor? - I found one! Their sales engineer, Pat came out on time, was not only friendly and on time, but gave me an honest appraisal on my roofing issue which did NOT include his services. I think many other companies would have tried to sell me something I didn't need, but Pat said I had a very minor problem and took care of it at no charge. I'll call them first the next time I need contracting services!!

Pat takes a lot of pride in giving honest advice…even when it means there’s no work for us to do. We’re glad we could help you out, and it means a lot to hear you’ll be calling us in the future. Thanks again!
