Unbelievably shoddy work - zero clean up - tiles hanging over eaves un cut - hundreds of thousands of nails strewn around the site - old shingles and plastic covering site - charges extra for their incompetence of getting stuck in the snow EDIT: You didn’t replace a steel roof you replaced shingles for shingles! 🙄 Just check the weather before you start a job common sense and if you can’t cleanup in the snow then come back and do it in the spring.

    Reply from the business

Hi Jeannine. We are so sorry to read you found hundreds of thousands of nails following your steel roof installation. We aren’t sure how we left hundreds of thousands of roofing nails strewn about, since screws are used to secure steel roofing panels, and since we replaced an old steel roof. In addition, even if the old roof had been a shingle roof tear off, hundreds of thousands of roofing nails would be approximately 27.77 boxes of coil nails covering upwards of 1,600 bundles/560 squares — or 56,000 square feet of roof area. That’s quite something! About the snow, and as communicated directly at the time, snow plowing is not the roofer / plumber / electrician’s responsibility. If a tradesperson can’t physically access your property due to snow accumulation, flooding, or your driveway being an overgrown goat path that a truck can’t fit through, the responsibility lies with the homeowner to ensure clearance and appropriate access. Although your review dropped our google rating, we trust readers will see it for what it is and enjoy the chuckle, too. Have a wonderful day!

I left two phone messages and sent two emails. It took weeks before I received an email back to say that they just saw my email and assumed I had heard from someone by now. I wrote back to say I still had not heard from anyone and I never got another response. HUGE WASTE OF TIME.

Hi Jennifer Lee -- my name is Alyssa Cook and I work for Apsley Roofing. My sincere apologies for my disappointing service last year. We were unable to attend the two specific dates that you requested in our emails due to the ongoing and overwhelming devastation caused by the Derecho storm. Last year was brutal year for roofs in terms of weather, particularly in North Kawartha. Many, many roofs were damaged and required emergency remediation (many customers had massive holes in their roofs, which required immediate attention). We did our very best to serve our existing customer base as well as insured homeowners outside of our service area, many of whom were desperately looking for help during such an unforeseen, incredibly busy time. I would like to personally apologize, as your review pertains to my role specifically versus the quality of our roofing installations. As a garage re-roof request, yours - like many others' - became non-urgent, and fell by the wayside as we attended to emergency situations. I am sorry for that. I'd appreciate the chance to talk by phone to apologize and explain. We received dozens of calls last year that I simply couldn't keep up with following the Derecho storm in our area, and I know that I didn't perform to our customers' expectations throughout 2022. I truly apologize. Alyssa, Apsley Roofing & Exteriors

Clay and Alyssa did an amazing job! They were professional, friendly and reliable. We had a metal roof and when removed found a lot of damage which was a shock. Clay and Aylssa were understanding and made a terrible situation bearable. I would highly recommend them for any roof and eaves toughs! We definitely be hiring them to replace our garage roof!

I was in a pinch and these guys helped me out big time. Clays knowledge and logic made complete sense, I wish I had done the whole roof originally with them.

Installer showed up on time as promised. Installed two replacement sections of eavestrough and installed leaf gutters all around the house. Great job.

Clay and Alyssa were amazing to work with (both times we have used them) When we needed snow stops and eavestroughs put on two cottages asap due to erosion of our property they came out right away and we had a quote within a day. Once accepted they immediately ordered our product and had the job finished the week after. Zero issues with debris left. Super happy with the job!

Where this page comes from

Every figure above is Google’s, captured on 24 September 2026. The star average and the 8 ratings behind it are counted by Google across all of its reviews. The review text on this page is a sample — we hold 8, of which 8 have any text — and it is not everything Google shows.

Roof Warden does not verify licenses, bonds, insurance or workers’ compensation cover, and nothing on this page should be read as though we had. Confirm those directly with the contractor and with your state or provincial licensing body before you hire anyone.

There is not much data on Apsley Roofing & Exteriors. A short record here means our capture found little — not that there is nothing to find, and not that the business is new or inactive.
