  Hello Mr. Jasmin, We would like to clarify something important regarding your comment: Toitures Joël did not install your roof. Three years ago (May 5, 2023), we were hired by the previous owner to carry out a temporary repair on an already aging roof, pending its eventual replacement. This was not a roof renovation, nor was it covered by a comprehensive warranty. We understand that water infiltration is a concerning situation. However, since we did not install this roof and our previous work was a one-off, temporary repair for the previous owner, we unfortunately cannot be held responsible for the current condition of the roof, nor can we offer free repairs. Furthermore, during your conversation with our assistant, she remained courteous and informed you that a fee would apply for a new intervention, as the warranty on the previous repair had now expired. You then indicated that you refused to pay these fees. We remain available to assess the situation and offer you a suitable solution. You can contact us at 450-589-3332. Jordan

  I had my roof redone by Toitures Joël in October 2011. I had it done a little early, thinking I was preventing any potential problems. I had also taken the time to shop around and hire a good contractor. What a disappointment! In eight years, my new roof has leaked three times—every two to three years. First, to remove the existing roofing, the workers, like brutes, ripped off the shingles and also damaged the wood that made up the roof structure. Over time, the broken, holed areas eventually let water through. In addition to replacing the shingles to match the color of the new roofing, they also had to replace decorative aluminum trim, about a foot wide, above a window, the door, and the extension. The new pieces were poorly bent and badly installed; it was awful. I refused to pay them, demanding that it be fixed. A few days later, the company's right-hand man replaced the aluminum parts. I paid, and we parted on good terms. Two years later, the roof leaked above one of the bedrooms. They came and repaired it. Afterward, a worker plastered the water-damaged ceiling and painted it. A few years later, the roof leaked above another bedroom. They came, repaired the roof, and the worker plastered and repainted the ceiling. In 2019, the roof leaked for the third time, in the second bedroom, but also, even more extensively, in the stairwell where, during the roof defect, they had made a large tear, a big hole, in the wooden part of the roof. They came and repaired the wood; they also replaced part of the membrane and the shingles on top. The ceiling in the stairwell took a while to dry. Then, once again, the room had to be emptied and the house prepared for the painter-plasterer's work. I was desperate. I also wondered: what if the roof leaked again? I decided to wait. Then Covid hit. Contact had to be avoided. My house was functional. Time passed. I wasn't too worried; I was counting on their usual cooperation.
