  I live on San Juan Island. I had 5 different roofers provide quotes to replace my roof. Two from the islands and 3 from the mainland. One other one never showed up. In every case, the quotes were outrageously high and had minimal detail. As a former general contractor (retired now), I have done a ton of quotes. I decided to do one for my own roof. My numbers came up substantially less the the quotes I was getting. In two cases, I called the contractors back to ask for more detail. One said "We're probably not the contractor for you. We know what we're doing, and we know what it will cost." The other refused to give me any detail, noting, "We only do that for insurance claims." I had all but given up. I wanted to know where I had gone wrong, and why this roof replacement was going to cost a fortune. I contacted a colleague who is a commercial roofer, mailed him my spreadsheet, and asked, "Please tell me where I am wrong with these numbers." He called back, and said, "They look pretty solid to me. I'd say you're right on." When we discovered Steve and Global Roofing, I was OK giving it one more shot. Steve's quote came back within a couple thousand dollars of mine. That was one good sign. Meeting and talking with him, I could tell right away that he was serious, experienced, and a straight shooter. Steve managed the significant challenge of doing work in the islands as though he'd been doing it for years. The entire project came off without a hitch. All material was delivered with perfect timing. His crew was very hard working, respectful, polite, and experienced. 5 guys who all worked very well with one another. Nobody was standing around, no yelling, nobody uncertain of what to do or how to do it. In fact, they all were having a pretty good time, talking, joking helping each other out. Those were the dynamics I always looked for in my crews. Once finished, a day early I might add, cleanup was thorough and the job looked great. They had even replaced 7 skylights, so

  Steve and his crew replaced my mother in laws house in Stanwood with quality materials and excellent workmanship. We replaced the skylights at the same time to complete the project. I know that this work was superior to the original roof that was installed.

  Steve at Global communicated very well. His crew did the work very quickly, which allowed other parts of the project to move more quickly. He also noted things that could be problems in the future without being pushy about them in any way, which allows us to plan and budget for that work and have his crews do them when the time comes.

  I would highly recommend this roofing company. They did a fantastic job with the tear off and installation of my new roof. Had some severe wind damage and they repaired everything good as new. The team was very professional and did a fantastic job pre and post cleanup after the roof was done.
