We had our roof done in June 2022. I would not recommend Excel to complete my roof again. Here are the issues I experienced and am still experiencing. We had two leaks occur while they were completing my roof. There was a heavy rainfall, and they didn’t cover up the roof. The workers came early that morning to do so, but it was to late my then. They did a minor patch up job but you can still tell the pain color difference. They also, cut my satellite cable and asked me to find someone to fix it. I still haven’t done that to date as I don’t use it too frequent. You think they would just fix it, instead of my having me find someone. The last is the most troubling. It’s been over two years and I still have nail falling from my roof. How many nails did they leave up there. I keep finding about 2 nails per week on my driveway and in my back yard. I’m surprised none of them have punctured by car tires yet.

    Reply from the business

Hello Karim and thank you for your feedback. We did have some difficulties with unexpected rain and we did fix the issue from what we remember bear in mind this has been 2 years now. We did have a look at the contract and did have a note saying to remove the satellite. We don’t usually remove it unless we’re told. As for nails continuing to fall from the roof it’s possible that there was a section of gutter that wasn't cleaned properly. If you want we’re happy to discuss all these issues with you and come up with solutions. Please give us a call at 613-864-5047

Booked a appointment with them to inspect our roof. They didn't show up for the appointment, so we called and they said they don't do 3 floors building. They didn't bother to call us to cancel and wasted our time. Unprofessional. Update; they called us later, trying to persuade us to take my bad review down... and like he admitted, he show up, saw that out home was 3 floors high, and just left without telling us he could not do the job.

    Reply from the business

This was a clear misunderstanding. Client called asking for an inspection for their skylight. I said I would get back to them tomorrow morning after I had a look at the house to better understand of what’s needed to get up there to inspect. We hadn’t booked an appointment but client called in the morning asking where we were, I said that I had just looked at the house and was about to call her shortly to discuss it with her. Before I had the chance to explain that this was a bit more difficult then just a 2 storey house because you need a longer ladder and at least 2 people to get up there to do the inspection and that there would be a cost associated to this inspection, the client was clearly upset that we weren’t going to be coming and that we had waisted their time, we decided that it was best to not continue the conversation and just tell them we don’t do 3 storey inspections. To potential clients reading this we do 3 storey roofing and inspections for nice understanding people Reply to update: I did not show up as we never made an appointment or did I claim to show up. If you’re referring to me looking at the house this was done by google maps street view. Yes I did call to explain that it was a misunderstanding with your wife but you told me otherwise. Any reasonable person would understand.

We did our entire roof with Excel roofing last summer. In terms of positives, Excel had a lower price than their competitors, said that they would use good quality GAF material, they were responsive to my initial emails, and they showed up to do the install when they said they would. However, that’s where the positives end. First, they did a very rushed job (you get what you pay for) with nails missing studs, ripped water shield, strange roof cap bindings which look ugly. The work site was also left quite full of nails. I shared pictures of the install with other roofers and they all found the install sloppy. The most serious issue started this summer when, following two periods of hard rain, we developed two water stains on our second floor ceiling! This never happened with our old roof. I called the company at least 5 times over several weeks to have them do the repair. However, they either “forgot” to come, or said that someone from their team would fix the the issue (they didn’t). I tried to give them a chance to fix the issue. However, two months later, it is clear that they are either unwilling or incapable of making the repair. All in all, this company cannot be counted on for any warranty repairs. Only use them if you need to do a quick and cheap roof install prior to moving out. Update following owner's reply: We had the roof installed last August. The ceiling stain happened after the big rain storm in May, which is less than a year since the roof was installed. I tried calling Alex (owner) multiple times, however, it took several calls to get in touch with him. It also took a few reminder calls where he "forgot" to send someone to look at the stain. While it is true that an L bracket was installed on July 18, which is appreciated, the worker said that someone would return to add caulking. However, this was never done. I will revise my review when it is completed. In terms of visible nails not affecting structural stability, the issue is that havin

Hello Din thank you for this review and for not returning my phone call from a few days ago explaining that we have done the repair about 3 weeks prior to this review. Din called us a few months ago after a big storm that he had gotten a stain on his ceiling upon inspection the following day we noticed that, where the leak had come in was lined up with a joint connection where the soffit meets a roof edge, the roof capping on a 12/12 pitch roof so given the fact that his roof hadn't leaked in a year and a half we came to the conclusion that this must of been caused by wind driven rain through the soffit since. We explained that we would come and install an aluminum L piece connection to eliminate and further wind driven rain which we did, unfortunately the customer at the time wasn't home, which prompted this review. To address your comments , nails don't need to hit studs they just need to hit the wood sheathing, if you referring to the picture of the nails not hitting the deck this is hard to see when your on the roof installing it, as you assume its hitting the deck. This doesn't compromise the roof integrity and is easily removed, which we did. You have a picture of a lower back roof with the old underlayment, this was completely wrapped before we installed our roofing system. You did call us after the job was complete to do a better cleaning of the nails which we did. We went above and beyond to do free service to you and this is the thanks we get. There's a reason this is the only bad review we have on our service. Also I wish google would allow me to also post pictures. We're still waiting for your phone call if you wish to discuss this further.

Not a customer, but a neighbor who of a person who had their roof done by Excel roofing. The workmanship looks good and they did the roof within 2 days on a large house. The lower review is mainly the mess. There is so much plastic debris (from small pieces to very large plastic wraps & left over debris) all over my backyard on the street, that they threw from the roof. Excel appears to have done a good job cleaning the plastic debris off the property of the house that they were doing the roofing, but didn't seem bothered to clean up all the plastic flying down the street nor in the yards of the neighbors.

    Reply from the business

Hello Adil we’re glad to hear you noticed our good workmanship. I’m sure the crew did not notice the plastic going into your yard or they would of come to clean it up. On windy day like we had last week these plastic pieces can end up going pretty far. That said we would of been happy to send someone over right away if you would of called us to let us know of the debris. We have multiple crews so it’s hard to know which job this was from. Please contact us at your convenience to discuss this further

I tried getting a quote. Estimator "forgot" his promise to provide quote. WE, the estimator and I, set the expectation that a quote would be done. I called on the day I said I would and the estimator insisted no quote was available. Seems rather unprofessional way to do business.

    Reply from the business

Hello Hassan we had arranged an appointment at your place and the estimator waited 2 hours tried to reach you by phone with no luck you then called us back a few days requesting your estimate we explained to you that we don't give estimate over the phone and that you would have to make another appointment, you said you were busy could not meet. Unfortunately its our company policy that we don't give quotes over the phone. Please reach out to us if you wish to make an appointment.

Asked for a quote, they said they would get back to me shortly, they never did. Very unprofessional.

We had an excellent experience with Excel Building & Roofing Inc. from the initial meeting with Alex, the owner, through the installation, lead by Collen and his team. The work was completed in 2 days and the new roof looks great. The staff were professional and friendly and left out property neat and tidy. We are very pleased with the result.

They did a great job. They were respectful and answered all my questions. They got the roof done in one day and did a great cleanup when they were done.

Nice job. The crew worked long hours in hot conditions. A couple of unanticipated issues came up and were dealt with efficiently. Flashing around the skylights looks great. I would have no hesitation to recommend.

More than happy with our experience with Excel. Alex was friendly, flexible, and fair in providing us a quote and scheduling in the work to be done at our convenience. Our roof was replaced in a single day by a group of incredibly hard workers. Wouldn’t hesitate to use them again and recommend them wholeheartedly!

We had new siding and roofing installed by Excel Building, Roofing, shutters, down spouts and all the wood trim was capped to ensure a lower maintenance upkeep. Repairs were required to the deck boards on the lower roof and that took extra time and labour. All work was completed in a timely manner. The crews were very polite and made a good impression an all the neighbours.

Being first-time homeowners, getting our roof replaced felt like a daunting experience. From our very first meeting with Alex, however, we felt we were in good hands. He took the time to explain what to expect, walked us through the different roofing colour options, and made sure we understood everything we needed to know before the work began. He was also very flexible with the scheduling of the roof replacement and happily accommodated our requests. That gave us a lot of confidence in both the company and the quality of their service—and they absolutely lived up to it. The three crew members who worked on our roof were professional, polite, and always punctual. They communicated clearly throughout the project, patiently answered all of our questions, and were incredibly helpful. They even went the extra mile by replacing a missing siding panel for us, which we truly appreciated. Once the job was complete, they did an excellent job cleaning up the property, leaving everything neat and tidy. We were also very happy with the pricing and felt we received great value for the quality of the work. Overall, our experience with Excel Building and Roofing was outstanding. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others, and they'll be the first company we contact for any future services they offer.

Very fast service for both the assessment and the roof/vent replacement (contacted on July 3 wrt storm damage July 1, assessment July 7, roof replaced July 15-17). Personnel were professional and respected the property. Cleaned up like they had never been here. Dump trailer removed as soon as job was done. Very pleased with the service/roof!
